Grading my 2025 NBA Player Rankings: Who I got WRONG & RIGHT

Jason answers mailbag questions from subscribers on a variety of topics including how his 2025 NBA rankings list ended up working out — including players such as Luka Doncic (Los Angeles Lakers), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs), and LeBron James — plus, Rudy Gobert’s omission from the list, where Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets) fits, LaMelo Ball’s new team, building around Cooper Flagg (Dallas Mavericks), comparing the Steph Curry and Kevin Durant Golden State Warriors to the Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls, and more.

  1. WTF…..U DONT CHANGE FOR MONTH TO MONTH WHO THE BETTER PLAYER IS….LUKA BEEN LIGHTS OUT FFOM DAY 1…6 NBA 1st TEAM ALL STAR….MEANIN….HE BEEN LOOKED AT AS ONE OF THE BEST 5 PLAYERS IN NBA 6 OUTTA HIS 8 SEASONS…ONLY MISSIN HIS ROOKIE SEASON AND TRADE SEASON….
HOW THE HELL JUST EFFICIENCY IS MAKIN SHAI BETTER….HE DON'T SCORE. REBOUND. ASSIST OR EVEN STEAL MORE THAN LUKA….

REVERSE LUKA AND SHAI ON ANY TEAM…..AND LUKA WINS MORE….AND IM SURE YOUD BET YOUR LIFE ON THAT

  2. I think your instincts were right on anthony edwards. He is right around top five. He played better against the spurs than shai did, on a bum knee AND he saw way more double teams than shai did. He has also beaten and outplayed luka and jokic in playoff series. His numbers arent the craziest but when the balls thrown up, hes one of them ones.

  3. Ant would’ve averaged 30 last yr if not for the pacers game he got hurt 5 min into the game, and then the last 3 games he tried coming back at the end of the year on a min restriction. Despite all that, he still shot 40% from 3 and had a 62% TS. And did all of this without a true point guard.

  4. Shai is better because he has won MVP and ring not because he is a better scorer. The team requirement between Luka and Shai is different. Boiling it down to who is more efficient is a lazy take.
Luka is an offensive engine not just a scorer. Hence why he can be inefficient as he was against 2024 OKC and still generate offense for his team. Shai couldnt score so then everyone else on his team got exposed for being a little less than their reputation.

They are very different players so trying to compare them as simply scorers is lazy. Shai is better because he has won…very simple.

  5. To be fair, I do think Steph's injury was a bit exaggerated since they were pretty much locked into a play in spot. There was no need to come back until a little before the play in.

  6. Luka scored 600 points in March. Led his team to a 16-2 record, at one point was averagine 39-10-9. Ended up averaging 38-8-8 and dropped a 60 point game. Only two people in the history of the game has done this. MJ and Luka. Yet, Luka dropped 3 places in the MVP voting. I no longer care about what the biased media says about things. It is all a joke. The bias is getting almost as bad as the WNBA.

  7. I def thought wemby was gonna be that good. He was clearly 1st team all nba in 25 b4 he went down w injury and it was only his 2nd yr. Take Tatum out the mix he was no lower than 4 for me going into last yr

  8. I don't always agree with you but I do enjoy your pod. Ant turns 25 this month, that leap your looking for generally comes at 26. Ant was so good so young we expect more from him, which is valid.

  9. Difference between Luka and Shai: Shai has 15 guys on the team that are good. When Luka went to the Finals, the rest of the Mavericks disappeared and shot at one point 14% from the three point line. Kyrie was 13-37 in the first two games and in the fifth game, scored a whooping 15 points. You take Shai off of OKC and he would struggle to make the playoffs.

  10. Hey Jason last season I asked about the media’s coverage of Luka compared to his peers. In this video you stated that you are still a believer in Luka. I have to ask why do you choose to believe in him when everyone around him seems not to? Rick Carlisle gave up on him. The Mavs as an organization gave up on him. Lebron would rather trust always injured Joel Embid than Luka to win a championship with. It’s not like Luka is 24. He’s practically 30. Isn’t it entirely possible he’s reached his peak and now he’s going down?

  11. The comparison between the 96 bulls and 17 warriors is stupid cause it’s just a completely different era (and the 17 warriors are clearly the better team). However I don’t see why you felt the need to discredit the Bulls success by chalking it up to a “watered down league”

  12. People lie a lot. Like this guy below me. He said Rick Carlisle gave up on Luka Doncic. In reality, Rick Carlisle said Luka was the best player he ever coached. March 5, 2026. It takes all of two seconds to look this up. Put people lie.

  13. Good explanation re Jamal Murray not being considered for the top 25 list. It's strange in some ways that a player who earlier in his career was historically one of the greatest playoff risers has come up short in recent years. To be fair to him, injuries hampered him in the '24 and '25 playoff runs. This past playoffs in the series v the Wolves he was awful, though part of that was the almost unbelievably bad shooting by Denver. The Nuggets shot less than 30% on their open and wide open looks in that series which allowed Minnesota to gang up on Murray and Jokic. Weird variance for a team that was the best 3 point shooting team in the league, the top offense, and one of the best overall shooting teams. Weird series all the way around.

  14. This idea that Shai is some type of massive dropper in the playoffs is not accurate. Every high usage star sees their true shooting percentages go down in the playoffs. Shai's has too. But his drop over the last three years is actually less than both Luka's and Jokic's.

  15. Love the show but keep the doubting Wolves year after year after year energy! One of the most successful teams over the last 3 years. And once they make the playoffs, remember to continue to pick against them 🙂

  16. SGA is a "more efficient scorer". He was 2% better from 2, 1% better from 3, wasn't double teamed half as much as Doncic and had more layups (hence him being 2% better from 2). Luka was a better scorer, better rebounder, better passer, and better at steals.

You don't sound clueless trying to make that argument. Really….😂😂😂

  17. We’re entitled to changing our minds, but right after the WCF, Jason mentioned how much more talented shais team is. And how put Luka in a thunder jersey and they’re beating the spurs.

Doesn’t mean he was taking Luka over shai (although his sentiments in that segment seemed that way), but now to say that he was totally wrong to put Luka over shai last year and, spoiler alert he’ll put shai ahead of luka as if it’s very obvious, seems very disingenuous.

  18. Luka is 5-1 against Wemby and averaging a 30 point triple double in those games. He has played with a Mavericks team that shot 14% in the finals from three and disappeared. Then, on a Lakers team with a 42 year old LeBron James who held the franchise hostage for 5 years consuming $60 million of cap space with Ayton as a center. He has played for 3 freaking different head coaches and 4 different owners. Now, take Luka and put him on the OKC roster. A team of high first round picks and all defensive players and three point shooters.
