HYPOTHETICAL TRADE: Would Kevin Durant & Jalen Duran make the Cavaliers the FAVORITES in the East?
The Cleveland Cavaliers would completely change the Eastern Conference picture if they somehow landed Kevin Durant and Jalen Duren in a blockbuster deal. Durant remains one of the NBA’s premier scorers, while Duren is coming off an All-Star and All-NBA season after averaging 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds for a Detroit Pistons team that won 60 games and finished as the East’s No. 1 seed.
For Cleveland, adding Durant would give Donovan Mitchell another elite offensive weapon and provide the Cavs with the kind of high-level wing scoring they have been missing. Duren would also bring youth, athleticism and rebounding to the frontcourt, although a deal like this would almost certainly require Cleveland to give up significant pieces and reshape its current roster. It’s also worth noting that Duren is currently a restricted free agent, making the trade mechanics especially complicated.
