  1. Lakers aren't sneaky good… we're just good. You LeBron stans can't see how chemistry will be better and the defense will be better. Addition by subtraction.
    Luka and AR are the best conductors there is.

  2. if you merge EPM, DARKO, and LEBRON and run all iterations with different weights the Lakers are 12th defensively and top 5 offensively. They will be one of the best teams in the league

  3. Jason, the LeBron glaze has to stop. You overvalue top-end talent and don’t value fit and synergy enough, man. We’re clearly in an era where matchups and synergy are winning.

    The Lakers are better because they have a deeper roster that fits together much more cleanly.

    Luka and LeBron were an atrocious fit on defense. Two off-ball helpers who are bad at it. Luka because of his physical limitations and offensive usage. LeBron because he hasn’t given a shit about defense for 6 years.

    The offensive fit was bad too because Luka is just a waaay better version of LeBron at this stage, and LeBron shot like shit last year. The only thing carrying that pairing was the talent.

    If they get Kuminga, the roster actually makes sense. They go from having some of the worst rim protection in the league to good rim protection with Kessler. And everybody’s roles fit much more seamlessly on both ends.

    * Luka (Helper)
    * AR (Chaser)
    * Grimes (POA)
    * Kuminga (Wing Defender)
    * Kessler (Defensive Anchor)

  4. Last count Pablo had over 3,000 pages of documentary evidence. This is not circumstantial,

    Anyway, when the league investigates itself, that's a conflict of interest. A league investigation doesn't have the power of a court case. They can't subpoena witnesses, they can't subpoena Pablo's documents, there's no discovery, and they can't force someone to speak or give witness in a sworn statement.

    Maybe the best thing is a lawsuit. I would like to know everything. Silver better get this right. This is his legacy.

  5. steph curry is eligible for a 2-yr extension by the end of this month, whether he signs that immediately or holds off will pretty much tell everyone what's his priority at this stage of his career, and to be fair to him, he has NOTHING to prove anymore, his NBA legend status is set. if he wants the money, GO GET IT.

  6. Celtics will still be very good imo, Ik PG has his injury issues and moments but I feel he will have a very good this year with Boston, Mitch Robinson will be great and Tatum will do what he does, they have a TON of depth in their scrappy young wings

  7. mailbag: You said you think 2020 was lebron's weakest championship? I would say beating the young thunder team was an easier series, KD, russ, and harden while good at that point were not at their peaks yet and I'd take the 2020 heat to beat that 2012 thunder team. Also the 2020 lakers run had a tough series against denver where it took all of AD, dwight and mcgee to slow jokic and despite the lakers having rondo, kcp, caruso and danny green, pre knee injury jamal murray was cooking for long stretches in that series. What do you think?

  8. The thing about these rankings it largely omits health which i understand. I get it we can't assume or not assume health. But in terms of value say in the Brunson/Luka debate where if u factor in availability, dedication to their body and craft, and playoff success JB has the edge. If we omit those things then yes if u tell me i can have an in shape, healthy, motivated Luke vs JB who does those things already then absolutely 100 out of 100 u take Luka. However, IMO u can't ignore those things. Would i rather have a Brunson who plays 70+ games a year and a great postseason player, vs Luka at 50 games who is out of shape, & misses playoff games give me JB 100 out of 100.

  9. Mailbag: I feel like the Timberwolves are making a roster move whose upside eerily matches up with how the Indiana Pacers made their finals run.

    I can’t say that Rudy/Joan are going to provide 5-out spacing, but a side from our centers, it’s pretty damn close with top tier elite shooters on the team.

    What are your thoughts about this notion and their matchup versus OKC & SAS ?

  10. Mailbag: When will you stop giving luka the pass because of his potential? When will you be realistic about the player Luka has become. Luka is a bad player off ball and he's too ball dominant to successfully win a championship. Here's the thing Luka is a lazy defender he's also lazy without the ball. People don't watch basketball closely enough to understand this. He's also never really avaliable win it matters. These are valid issues and reasons why i believe Jalen Brunson is a better player than Luka.

  11. Thanks for taking my mailbag about undervaluing Celtics offseason. I totally agree. The only thing I don’t agree with is Tatums struggle with apex role in the playoffs. He has taken over so many playoff games in his career. More than Luka, Ant, SGA, all of them. He’s a great gadget guy, but he also takes over. I believe Brown being gone will put him in position to do it more, and I believe he will succeed.

  12. The Celtics are trash bro what is u talking bout everyone is bout to find out how bad Tatum really is he about to get exposed in other words and he has more talent than Jaylen brown did last year I bet the Celtics are a worst team than last year

  13. The lakers should be good now that the team is built to maximize their best player, luka.

    The celtics will be fine. If mitch is healthy, they will be even more potent at rim protection and leaning into offensive rebounding. But JT is still a question mark. He needs to be efficient to make this all work.

    Both teams have excellent coaching staffs

  14. If you need a leader and culture setter – a guy to get a team locked in and bought in on a coaching staff's vision – there is a chasm between Brunson and Luka. Also, regular season durability and post-season winning were your criteria. Luka looks great on paper but isn't as good when it comes time to actually win a lot of games as a team. This is all before mentioning the downright lazy defensive rotations. Does seem like rage bait – overvaluing Luka's shot creation at the expense of everything else.

  15. Wait till Jason realizes that Walker Kessler is not that much better than D. Ayton and certainly not a superstar player. Also, Luka never played 75 games in a season in his career. If he plays 65 the Lakers should be very, very happy.

  16. When did Luka take that step? Brunson far superior….knows how to hide himself on defense and can do so many more things off ball on offense where Luka and Shai cannot shoot nor cut and are useless. Brunson the onviois choice over Luka based on impact on both ends and he os a far more varied scorer than shai, but I woild put ahai over hom bc of his D

  17. second time you have called dylan harper small you said this in ya breakdown of him inbounding vs knicks he was 6’4 1/2 at combine as a teen im sure he grows to 6’5 even and with shoes 6’6

  18. Explain to me why any time the knicks are down 20 in a playoff game they never feel out of it. Its the brunson effect. It gives the team supreme confidence that hes gonna take you home if you keep it close.
