Do you think the Nets have a realistic path to the play-in this season after trading for Julius Randle? Why or why not?
Realistic NO. They do not have a very good chance. Every team will be trying to win next season except the Nets; they didn't get the memo that Tanking isn't worthwhile. Jordi cannot expect to steal a bunch of wins from tanking teams like last year or the year before. Not to mention next year's draft isn't expected to be that good anyway. Last year to make the playin teams had to win over 40 games. So right off the bat, you would have to believe this team is going to more than double their win total. That is simply the addition of Mo Wagner, Ellis, Randle, and an improved Egor minus Claxton will do the job.
The only problem is the EAST has gotten considerably better than the Nets. It is very difficult to objectively look at the East Conference and not honestly see the Nets as a bottom-five talent team. I see one team the Bucks. Every other team in the East has more talent and more roster depth throughout.
MBJ and EGOR along with MPJ repeating what he did the first half of the season for a full season is what it would take.
If the Nets really , really work hard enough , and no one really gets hurt too bad during the season, give them 10 , maybe 15 more wins then last year. They have the talent. Let's see what Jordi can put together. This really should br Sean's last year to turn this around. I like the newer , young core . Let's see if they can mature the way they should
The year we got the 6th seed with a DLO led team that was with 40 wins. Last Season The 10th seed Miami had 40 wins and all the teams in the east got better except for the Bucks. I just don't see it.
The east is beast but there are a lot of beatable teams for the Nets in the west. That is where the Nets can pad their win total
I tell you nothing grinds my gears more than people reminding me how freaking wimpy the NBA is today. Eric just said he wouldn’t be surprised if the nets don’t play MBJ in back-to-back games because he’s a college player and may not be ready wow.
Jason Kidd in his first year in the league played 79 games and average 34 minutes a game.
I appreciate the optimism from Nets fans. But the more I hear it talked about, the more I believe the notion that the Eastern Conference improving offsets a little of the Nets' "juice." That being said, 30 wins is a realistic ceiling, 35 wins would mean a lot is going right, and 40 wins means there are unexpected surprises in the Nets favor. My original hopes: that Mikel balls out and goes crazy, averages 20 and 6- not impossible; the Egor and Randle momentum surges- Not unlikely; MPJ gives the Nets an encore performance- not far-fetched. Where it gets tricky: I think the Nets would need at least one of Traore, Wolf, Powell, or Saraf to take an unexpected leap. If all this goes right, 40 wins is doable. Other than that, a trade where the Nets win a trade and get an immediate difference-maker (i think unlikely) would be another path
As a nets fan, how many east coast rosters would you choose over the nets. I don't see 6.
Dubious Handle bully ball and M "get the rebound" P long bombs two man game with Mikel "sanic speed" Brown Jr running all around fast. Egor? Igor? Occasionally doing something and no one else touches the ball and Nets will be running new york
