The Day Michael Jordan Showed Orlando Magic Who Was The BOSS

Today, the men who lived it — Nick Anderson, Penny Hardaway, Horace Grant, Darrell Armstrong, Steve Kerr, and Jordan himself — tell you what really happened. Including the pettiest free throw in NBA history.

To understand what Jordan did to Orlando, you first have to understand what Orlando did to Jordan.

Because in the spring of 1995, the Magic weren’t some plucky underdog. They were the scariest young team the NBA had seen in a generation. An expansion team born in 1989 hit the lottery twice in two years: Shaquille O’Neal in ’92, then Penny Hardaway on draft night ’93. By 1995 the experiment was a machine — fifty-seven wins, best record in the East, Shaq the scoring champ at twenty-three, Penny First Team All-NBA in year two.

And they had a secret weapon. A man who knew every single thing about the Chicago Bulls, because he’d won three championships wearing their uniform.

  1. Penny Hardaway, would be in TOP 10 Point Guards if he wasn't injured . such a great talent! Footwork, Scoring , Post moves, Dribbling, and his Size ! everything was perfect. He was the modern Magic Johnson.
