The Miami Heat Are ALL-IN — Who Gets Blamed if They Fail?

The Miami Heat have Giannis Antetokounmpo and championship expectations. So who faces the most pressure if this experiment doesn’t work?

Wes Goldberg and David Ramil put Erik Spoelstra, Davion Mitchell and Bam Adebayo on the Heat’s version of the hot seat. Spoelstra is one of the NBA’s most accomplished coaches and seemingly untouchable in Miami — but does going all-in on Giannis change the standard he’ll be held to?

Then, why could Mitchell become the obvious scapegoat if Miami falls short? Wes and David look at previous contenders that upgraded a starter after disappointing playoff runs and whether Mitchell could suffer the same fate. Finally, they examine Bam’s pressure entering the Giannis era and what the next couple of seasons could mean for his Heat legacy.

  1. How everyone has written us off is very reminiscent of jimmy’s first year here. And though older i do think we have a much deeper and more complete roster. But the east has gotten extremely deep as well. I dont know if we make a deep playoff run. But barring injury i think spo and the boys make it happen.

  2. I think spo’s best year was the bubble year. He was just pulling all the right subs, putting players in spots to shine, etc. but ever since the divorce he’s been bad, bad with the young guys, mental errors, calling young guys out publicly, losing leads became the norm, and on and on. Spo needs a more positive upbeat approach imo.

  3. I used to think Spo could do no wrong. Then I watched Spo become obsessed with Terry Rozier. I watched Spo forget how many timeouts he had & lost a vital game because of it. I watched Spo run offense primarily for Bam, when Jimmy knew that was a 💩 recipe, and then Spo double down and thinking Bam & Wiggins were the solution for offense when the league knows that’s a losing recipe. I watched Spo play a young kid out of position at the 5 and wreck his confidence. I watched a young talented center average 20 & 10 & then get sent back to the bench & only allowed 15 minutes a game because Spo wanted Bam to have more shots and for what?! Ruin the development of these young players just to finish as the 10th seed and only above teams that were blatantly tanking. And the last straw… I watched Spo put Normal Powell in for the most important defensive stop of the season & take Ware out & lose on a LaMelo layup because LaMelo recognized there was zero rim protection & he could out foot speed Jaquez.

So that was my final straw… LaMelo being smarter than Spo.

  4. The difference between all the other teams making the play-in & the Heat is the Heat sacrificed their future.

Also, the only guy in that locker room that is a Spo guy is Bam. Everyone else has only been here 2 years or is brand new, very little loyalty if any to Spo

  5. I stopped the video at 20:00 because I knew straight away what you boneheads were gonna say about whoe's on the "HOT SEAT" as you put it.

Without Giannis, no Klay for a start … Giannis attracts superstars, that's why the Heat acquired him for a king's ransom 👑💰💰💰💰💰

  6. Not a single tipoff made yet and you guys are throwing around the 'F' word. Come on. "Get taken to some dark places this season, cuz the Heat are shooting the lights out every night."…. thats 1 u guys can have for this seasons shows… (if it goes how i think)

  7. SPO IS OVERRATED… NBA COACHING IS OVERRATED…. JIMMY CARRIED SPO, IN THE JIMMY ERA… SPO WON ONE‼️ PLAYOFF GAME, SINCE JIMMY LEFT THE LINE UP … ONE‼️ GAME, NOT SERIES…. MIRACLE SHOT AWAY FROM BEING 1-3 IN THE FINALS, WITH A SUPER TEAM…. OVERRATED
