He looked decent for sure. Fun as a rookie. Overall encouraging, but the defensive positioning issues we know he has still showed face pretty heavily IMO. The NBA will expose that even more, but overall he’s got real upside
Many people don't understand that Mara wasn't drafted to be a "Wemby stopper"; he was drafted to be the perfect replacement for Hartenstein. Remember, the combined salaries of Shai, Chet, and J-Dub alone will total $150 million in the 2027–28 season. We need to let him develop; he’s a kid with a very high basketball IQ and exciting passing and reading abilities. Patience, please.
no. FIBA games are very different from NBA games.

the reason the league finds the thunder annoying is because they are a phalanx, they all defend, different levels, sure, but they all try to a level that most of the league cant match. i said it before. you play chet behind him, your worrys about mara evaporate, he becomes a lure, you want the player to get past mara because chets strength has always been cleanup blocks he's awesome at that. Frankly so is J Will actually
His physical conditioning is what concerns me. Get Jaylin's trainer from last year and get muscle
He needs to get into the gym quickly
Mara isn’t a flashy player and isn’t going to be some 20 and 10 guy. He’s going to be a high level big off the bench to provide rim pro when Chet is out and be another body to throw at Jokic and Wemby. 10-20 minutes a game would be perfect for him.
