Which player on the Cleveland Cavaliers has the BEST CHANCE to win a major award next season?
The Cleveland Cavaliers have several players with a legitimate path toward major hardware in 2026-27, starting with Donovan Mitchell in the MVP conversation and Evan Mobley as a potential Defensive Player of the Year candidate. James Harden could work his way into the Sixth Man conversation depending on how Kenny Atkinson ultimately structures his rotation, while new addition Peyton Watson might be Cleveland’s most intriguing long-shot after breaking out for 14.6 points per game last season — making Most Improved Player a realistic award to watch if his offensive role expands again. With Cleveland expected to contend near the top of the East, which Cavalier has the best combination of production, opportunity and team success to actually bring home a major individual award?

Evan Mobley is not overrated defensively. If he was in a better defensive ecosystem with fantastic perimeter defenders, he'd be given a lot more credit in the voting. The fact is the Cavs dropped to essentially league average defensively last year due to injuries and such poorous perimeter defense. If he had OKC's defenders around him, he'd be thought of more highly than Chet. Chet is probably the better rim protector, but Mobley isn't far off, plus he's better guarding the perimeter and has the higher defensive IQ.
