By mid-season this won't be a concern, especially when Proctor takes that next leap, and Thomas emerges in his rookie season, and Super Mario shows he can be an adequate rotation player
I’m willing to bet the young guys will step up and take more responsibility. People are also alil dramatic because the only playoff bench pieces we lost this offseason was Dennis and max. I think any of the guards can take Dennis role. Tomlin I also think will take the 24-25 dean Wade role as that big wing defender off the bench. Tyson still has star and sixth man of the year potential.
I'm no basketball strategist; however, I have not missed a game in two years… In my humble opinion, anyone who is left on the bench after last season very much helped us get to the finals… For the most part, we decided not to play them much when we got there… I think that was a mistake, but that's an issue for another day…. Given the inconsistency of those who have left us… I think the raw talent, size, and power of the new members, plus the maturation of our starters, simply make us a better team!!
I wouldn’t be too concerned but I do get their reasons. If James Harden does get injured we will have a problem without a playmaker. Other than that it shouldn’t be a problem. Maybe we should bring back Lonzo lol jk I have faith in Proctor this season.
Not worried. The Cavs will be able to roll out plenty of lineups with a combination of Harden, Watson, Mobley, and two bench guys.. also, Mitchell, Tyson, Allen, and two other bench guys. Lack of depth is overblown when you have this much talent is the starting lineup.
Yall gonna be real happy with the growth of Proctor and Nae'Qwan this year
I would love to see a lineup with Proctor and Thomas together for about 5 mins.
I think the talent is there, but time will tell if development and coaching can make it work.
Cavs had a deep playoff run and Tomlin, Merril, Porter, and Tyson all apart of that-that’s a lot of experience.
This level of development for all these pieces is a huge ask for the coaching staff. Some of these guys need the green light to build confidence in their game, but there’s a lot of bench to get better. Still think Cavs need more of a euro style center. I think we need more 3pt shooting. And the bench just has to have that brothers in arms mentality and take pride in what they bring to the table this season
I think we need another veteran pg in the playoffs
I think anyone worried about the bench hasn’t watched the spurs or thunder who relied on a young bench. At sometime you have to trust the young guys and the player development. If that doesn’t occur you have larger issues
I agree with what was said, and people that Complain about the Cavs bench, need to understand something. Come playoff time, Atkinson will only be playing 8 deep anyway. Nobody goes deep into their bench during the postseason. So let's hope that Tyson, Herzonja and whoever that 3rd person will be, get better as the season goes along.
Also yes, agree with the Herzonja take. I watched him during Fiba, and if he can be at least 80-85% of the player he was during FIBA, the Cavs will be a lil more dangerous than people expect.
75-80 % bench will be Cavs down this season Cavs fans gotta stop being so delusional and bias fr
I have a feeling Hezonja is gonna have a big impact on the team. He'll be efficient imo. I like the bench. They'll be good. I really like how this team is constructed.
Cavs resigned emoni bates
Tyson + Merrill + Hezonja is going to be firepower.
Proctor, Meleek, and CPJ are all going to perform when they are out there.
TB will be solid depth.
Nae'Qwan is the real wild card.
Khalifa will show us this season that he can catch lobs and rebound in the NBA.
Agree with your pros on Porter. I like Porter's versatility, but it all comes down to him being more consistent offensively. He has to step up this year. Having a PG who can play big and still be a playmaker, bucket getter off the bench is a huge asset, but he hasn't proven it yet. I love Merrill. He's rounded out into a fine player, I just wish he would take his damn time when shooting open threes. He misses too many, and it looks like he's rushing it. I like Bryant as the primary backup big. More complete big than Diop right now. Diop is more of a transition/pick and roll big which could be nice in spots with Harden. The thing about Hezonja, he's just way more dynamic than Wade offensively. I don't care if he's playing pickup ball. You can see it. He just has to play with a relatively high basketball IQ and not try to do too much. Learn how to gel with the others. If Tyson gets better, that's a huge bonus off the bench. He could be a real difference maker this year. And like everyone else, I'm really excited about Proctor and Thomas.
I more worried about the coach and coaches developing the young guys than I am in there talent. PLAY THE YOUNG GUYS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE,GET THEM READY FOR RHE PLAYOFFS.
Proctor has been in big time games on a national stage at Duke…regular season and March Madness. And he was consistently reliable and composed on those Duke teams as an important floor spacing role player. Those moments reveal his mental toughness and it’s probably the closest thing to NBA pressure situations. He’s likely ready, but Atkinson has to instill confidence with his younger players and stop playing them on a short leash…Tyson should be ok too. There are legitimate questions about the rest of the bench depth though…we will have to see if other guys step up.
Until Kenny coaches better, none of this matters.
@itscavalierpodcast1410 the young gunz are ready brotha it's about whether or not Kenny allows it. There is a disconnect with him and anyone under 28 other can Mobley.
