IMHO, the primary objectives are health and developing good habits, slowly but surely. If we do that, winning will take care of itself.
Re: a quick start, consider the '82-'83 Sixers. We started out 50-7, then cruised to the finish line. In the playoffs, we steamrolled our way to a 12-1 record and the title. That was a completely different scenario: a well-oiled machine that added Moses. This new version still needs to develop chemistry.
76ers can be considered successful if it wins between 50 and 55 games. The important thing is to be healthy going into the playoffs and to peak in the playoffs.
Play like the Knicks. That was a true team (that didn't materialize in one season)… You need one mindset for all games and that will lead to a championship or not. I feel it's a big mistake to come out like that's the die-hard goal…. just play your best, safest ball every game and it will be fun to watch. This team has weak spots and pressure to win it all should be minimized. Let it evolve and shake itself out, which will produce relaxed confidence.
Play all 82 games on merit.
If you're fit , you play. Even if its limited minutes.
I see Embiid plays 60 @ 28minutes per
Before making grandiose predictions – like 60-65 wins – how about we wait to see what training camp looks like, then the four preseason games, then, say, our first dozen or so real games. Right now, our frontcourt bench is suspect, especially scoring-wise.
58+ with a doubt, I think we lose two games to the Knicks in the playoffs, but thatโs it
I have this team winning 54 games this year. Those are some good betting odds at 50.5
They need to work on teamwork consistency and overall team chemistry. I want to see them moving the ball effectively. They are deep and can build alot of team chemistry then turn it up once they catch the flow. We cant be all gas no brakes. Yes we definitely do not want to burn any of our guys out. Keep it competitive but dont just expect great chemistry instantly. We will have to have some patience.
One quick thing to remember is that wins among the top teams will be deflated a bit this year. Tanking has effectively been eliminated as a strategy, so you won't have half a dozen teams pulling all their starters for the last three months of the season just to fight for the worst record in the league.
That alone will probably cost the playoff teams four or more games compared to how it would have been last year.
