RISKY MOVE: What Would The Detroit Pistons Future Look Like WITHOUT Jalen Duren?
Detroit Pistons face a pivotal decision—could moving on from Jalen Duren reshape Cade Cunningham’s era? Ku Khahil breaks down why parting ways with Duren could immediately set the Pistons back, but also explores whether long-term flexibility and a new roster vision might offer a higher ceiling. The debate heats up as potential sign-and-trade scenarios surface, with real-world trade partners like the Sacramento Kings, LA Clippers, and Brooklyn Nets offering less-than-ideal options.
Key topics include the Pistons’ financial outlook, possible roster restructures, and the strategic pitfalls of relying on sign-and-trades for value. Ku Khahil also spotlights pressing improvements: Detroit’s need to cut turnovers and boost three-point shooting. Drawing from Zach Lowe and Michael Pina’s recent analysis, the episode confronts whether last season’s possession-dominant style can fuel a deeper playoff run—or if new tactics are required for the Pistons to contend in the Eastern Conference.

Trade Duren at the deadline for Lauri
You should also apologize for your math last time too.
Utah Markkanen trade for Duren should be awesome….
If Duren takes the QO, can Pistons trade him before the trade deadline?
I remember a few years back you wanted him traded all the time. And I was telling you that he was gonna be this good and he will only get better.
Duren didn’t EVER look like he had a winning mentality. That was proven in the playoffs where mentally he was a buffoon. Now? This guy will be a total stooge with a losers mentality going forward. Nothing about his actions and behavior says winner. Not even close 😂😂😂😂😂
As far as I’m concerned this team is gonna start nose diving because this reminds me all too much of the grant hill days where it was not about the pistons and all about the player, and we know how that turned out. Langdon is not a Detroit type of Gm and it’s a damn shame cause we had all the type players and we are starting to get rid of them.
A step back, god helps us we have jb bickerstaff coaching us. We might not make the playoff with him you never know. He’s not Monty , but he sure is close as far as choking when it matters most.
Is there a reason why Denise Jenkins still plays for us. I’m baffled by him being on this team.
I would only do a sign and trade for sobins if it involved two additional first round picks. I would then turn around and trade those picks with Ron holland and fillers to the clippers for Darius garland. That’s a trade I would do cause it improves the point guard position.
If the pistons don’t get two firsts for duren, then the pistons need to pay duren 5 years 220 million.
Cade will be asking for a trade in two years and we will have Langdon to thank for this.
Ku, the only trade with Dallas that the Pistons will make is when Cade eventually requests a trade to go home!
Let Duren sign the QO. DET keeps it's core together for one more season and you get a motivated Duren who will want to ball out so he can get a max deal next season.
Or if Duren is balling out DET could trade him at the deadline and probably get a nice haul from a team looking to win a championship.
Not ready to move on from, JD, yet.
The Pistons need to pony up and pay, JD, the 40m’s a year that he’s at LEAST looking for..💯
Risky on the Pistons part too.
If Cade, isn’t 25-26 yet then he isn’t in his prime.
Looks like he’s entering into his prime
I understand those sign & trades are not the best option.
Duren is showing (his play on the court/actions off the court)that some move needs to be made.
This dude has turned a significant(majority?)part of the fanbase against him.
This dude is whining that a nearly $200M contract is "disrespectful" to him.
He don't (really) want to be here.
He don't really care about winning.
He just wants to get (over)paid.
We should not keep a whiny/disgruntled player just because he's "young" or has "potential."
This team has to move on from him.
The people of Detroit Piston.Tell they young Jalen Duren to take the 35 plus million dollars. If he doesn't it will hunt him for the rest of his career. He will be the same as Dennis Schroeder
Markkanen or JJ maybe Maluach and Jalen Green…
Without him that means the biggs we got have step up and give the ball to B BALL PAUL
Tom Gores, can afford to pay Jalen Duren, 40m dollars a year. Stop saying it’s, Trajan, when it’s really effin, Tom Gores! Who holds the purse? WHO is the owner of the Detroit Pistons? Business owners will understand exactly what I am saying.
If he takes the Q.O , what is everyone going to do then. Because people are avoiding that possibility.
duren for filipowski and a first and second plz
Jalen Duren is not a true second player option. We need another good guard on this team to help Cade. If we could get another center who could put up shots, inside and away from the rim (maybe 12 and 10 stats) and can defend better, then that would help. Who is that? I don't know, but because of the damage done to his reputation due to this contract fiasco (EVERY NBA PODCAST is talking about it. If JD wanted more fame he got it in the worst kind of way) I think it would be best to ship him out. There is a Ben Wallace sitting on someone's bench. Go find him.
Hes not real, 190m is way more in Detroit than 200m or w.e hes gonna make in California.
Jalen Duren for Miles Turner, Jaime Jaquez and first round pick
Hey Ku, it’s very clear that Jalen Duren doesn’t want to be in Detroit and doesn’t care about winning. If that’s the case, then get the fuck out of the Pistons.
We don’t need players who act like they’re doing us a favor by being here. Detroit needs players who are hungry to win, compete, and actually want to wear that Pistons jersey. If that’s not you, pack your bags and move on. We want players who actually want to be here.
Pistons are cooked 👨🏿🍳🥀💔
Too much negative talking. If I'm Duren I'm out.
