Do you think the Nets have a realistic path to the play-in this season? What needs to happen for them to get there?
MPJ and Julius gotta be All-Star or borderline All-Star level giving us 20+ a night, but Mikel Brown Jr. is the real X-factor. If he wins ROY, I think we’re playing postseason basketball. I’m not worried about MPJ and Randle getting buckets, and having those two gives Egor Dëmin the luxury of developing without being forced to carry the offense. The bench low-key got some dogs too. Keon Ellis and Josh Minott bring defense, Noah Clowney should take another step, and we’ve got enough young depth for somebody else to pop. Center is probably league-average at best, but Sharpe and Wagner give us two different looks. The biggest question is whether all these pieces can defend consistently and Jordi can get the rotations right. This roster got more to it than people think.
This is some Jedi Mind Tricks stuff from Mpj.
MPJ is putting out there that he thinks that the team can win 50 games which is ridiculous, but he wants a new contract and the best way to get a new massive contract is to try to convince the nets that they are closer to being contenders than they really are.
That’s what he wants because if they’re really far away, they’re just gonna trade him. They’ve already kind of made that clear that they wanna trade him so how exactly are they winning 50 games if MPJ is traded by the trade deadline?
MPJ is trying to use public perception to convince the nets to not trade him to lean into a Randle and MPJ duo and that they can be a playoff team if the Nets signed him.
But Mark’s already made that call when he went into this free agency and laid a rotten egg bring Keon Ellis and Wagner pretty much right out the gate, overpaying them and not bolster stringing the bench of this roster so that they can see what Danny Wolff, Drake Powell and Ben Saraf can do.
