The Raptors Will Be A Playoff Matchup Nightmare

Now that the Kawhi Leonard trade from the LA Clippers to the Toronto Raptors is officially finalized, Toronto’s perimeter defense looks genuinely terrifying heading into the 2026-27 NBA season. Kawhi Leonard, Scottie Barnes, and Collin Murray-Boyles gives the Raptors one of the most disruptive defensive trios in the entire league. That’s three long, versatile, high-IQ defenders capable of guarding multiple positions, switching everything, and making life miserable for opposing offenses in a playoff series. Add in Kawhi Leonard as a true closer and go-to option in crunch time, something this roster hasn’t had in years, and the Raptors start to look like a genuinely difficult playoff matchup for anyone in the Eastern Conference, including teams like the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers. Breaking down why nobody in the East is going to want to see the Raptors in the postseason now that the Kawhi Leonard trade is official, and what makes this specific combination of players so tough to deal with defensively.

  1. I am very much looking forward to this season. I think we now have our solution for a fair matchup against the Knicks. Poeltl needs to make sure he's bringing it for all that money we're paying him.
