Is Zach Edey of the Memphis Grizzlies the NBA’s “biggest” X-Factor?

1. Our SGA or Luka is Ty Jerome.
   Talk about trading him is ridiculous. We are going to be contenders next season so why would he go anywhere? All the talk about different timelines is stupid. You need veteran stars so those young players that people are obsessing over have time to grow. Trying to have a team of people that are all the same age is shortsided.

2. DaMichael doesn't understand Edey on offense at all. Has obviously done no scouting of his offense if he isnt aware of his counters..

   These guys will look stupid (with two o's) by December.

3. Zach Edey is going to breakout in 2026/2027 in ways the Memphis media has no clue about. It is hillarious to me that national media will be on the story of a superstar breakout before the smallest media market in the league is on a guy playing in their market.

4. Joe and DaMichael seeing Zach Lowe talk about Edey that way: "Nooooo! you're supposed to hype Clingan!!!!"

5. Expectation management is key…expecting Zach Edey to be an offensive closer for the team just doesn’t make sense. Look at the road game last season vs New Orleans. He was absolutely dominant without dominating the ball. That’s what we Zach Edey to give us to be a decent team this season.

6. Gotta stop putting the failure of GRZNXTGEN on Zach Kleiman. That era was never going to overcome the Ja Morant off-court nonsense or unfortunate, untimely injuries.

7. You keep Ty in late in the fourth and run screens with him and Boozer. Put Edey in the dunker spot on either baseline and have Wells and Coward spread the floor. They gotta wear that out every play down the stretch. Problem is opposing teams are gonna isolate Ty or make him and Edey guard the pnr on the other end. Until this team gets a legit 2way pg they're ceiling isn't very high. It's not low, it's just nowhere near a trip to the finals. That all being said, I haven't been this excited for an upcoming Grizz season in a cpl years! As always, great work, guys.

9. It's so stupid to think that Zach Edey should be the go-to scorer late in real NBA games that counts. Minnesota would never depend on Rudy Gobert to be that and the Pacers would never depend on Zubac to be that so the Grizzlies shouldn't expect Edey to be that either. The way people have hyped up Cam Boozer the past year HE had better have the ball in his hands late in games and I don't give a damn that he's a 19 year old rookie. People hype up Cedric Coward like he's a combination of Kawhi Leonard and Micheal Jordan so he too had better be involved heavily in late game situations. Also, one thing GG Jackson has shown is that he can get off his shot fairly easily in this league so he too would be a much better option late in games than Zach Edey.

12. Is Edey the biggest X factor? It depends on how you define X factor. He's definitely one of the biggest question marks. Let's hope we get some answers this season.

13. How did Ty Jerome and Scotty Pippen sneak into being considered top-4 impact players on the team? Career backups with glaring holes in their game that have never had anywhere close to the responsibility of leading a team's offensive load. It's okay to be honest that the team has a massive hole at PG and the franchise PG is not only very likely not on the team but is also just as likely to not be Ty or Scotty.

    End of game is still basketball even if it is a level above. As long as they have an effective halfcourt offense, which they should they'll be far better in the clutch than you realize. Grizzlies losing in the clutch wasn't even Edey's fault last year, he had to suffer through JJJ being awful in those moments but still get the bulk of the shots.
