BULLS TRADE FOR BUDDY HIELD! Chicago FINALLY Adds The Shooting It Needed
The Chicago Bulls finally addressed one of the biggest concerns on the roster by adding veteran sharpshooter Buddy Hield in a trade. š„š
On todayās episode of Locked On Bulls, Haize and Pat The Designer break down what the Buddy Hield move means for Chicago heading into the 2026-27 NBA season.
The Bulls have spent the offseason surrounded by questions about three-point shooting, half-court spacing, and bench scoring, and Hield directly attacks all three concerns. His ability to stretch defenses, move without the ball, and punish teams from deep could dramatically change how Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis, Caleb Wilson, Nic Claxton, Norman Powell, and the rest of Tiago Splitterās rotation operate offensively.
Haize and Pat discuss where Hield fits in the rotation and whether he should come off the bench as Chicagoās primary shooting weapon or potentially close games when the Bulls desperately need spacing.
The guys also break down the trade mechanics provided in the deal. Charlotte creates a $9.4 million trade exception and takes in roughly $3 million less in salary, while Chicago receives cash to help offset a significant portion of the salary difference. From the Bullsā perspective, the bigger story is simple: Bryson Graham found a way to add an established NBA shooter without abandoning the larger roster-building plan.
The move also creates immediate rotation questions. What does Hieldās arrival mean for Rob Dillingham, Tre Jones, Isaac Okoro, Patrick Williams, Jaylin Sellers, and Chicagoās other bench options? And could adding a legitimate movement shooter make Tiago Splitterās half-court offense significantly easier to build?
Topics Include:
– Bulls trade for Buddy Hield
– Why Chicago desperately needed more three-point shooting
– How Hield fits next to Josh Giddey
– Buddy Hieldās role in Tiago Splitterās offense
– Bulls bench scoring after the trade
– Who could lose rotation minutes?
– How the trade impacts Rob Dillingham and other guards
– Charlotte creating a $9.4 million trade exception
– Chicago receiving cash in the transaction
– Did Bryson Graham finally solve the Bullsā biggest weakness?
– How much the move changes Bulls expectations for 2026-27
The Bulls did not need another developmental shooter ā they needed someone defenses already respect. Buddy Hield provides exactly that, and now Chicagoās spacing conversation looks completely different heading into the season.

Buddy zza bro.this some bs
Big BS trade
They saved money, owners might be very happy I guess
On fo nem Buddy Teeth too big for his mouth, I hate the camera zooms after he hits a jumper š”
Rob for Teeth Keith aka Buddy is a good trade. We lacked a spot up shooter.
Rob played too small and they need shooting and plus our rookie might play some point and also we got Sellers much bigger and stronger than Dillionham. Good trade bulls had enough with small guards that canāt really shoot or play defense šš and get bullied in postseason games too
They should have given that young man a chance to play until the trade deadline !
You can never, ever have too much shooting š
Hopefully his shot is on point if so it opens the floor for Maraās and Caleb so we will see
Dillingham is not 6'2" in any capacity AND GOOD BYE ! ! !
At this point Iām waiting for the Reinsdorf finale by signing off with all players traded for cash considerations.
Buddy better be on his shi cause them yns outside wit button
Good trade for sure shooter for an 50 50 point guard I'll take it
I like the trades Bulls are making. This front office is dedicated to not bottoming out. Itās developmental and also making trades to fix holes in the gameplan. This is a good move and the fact they want to compete is even better
Rob does nothing for the Bulls. He was never going to be a good fit. Buddy at the very least serves a purpose and hopefully he is knocking down a lot of 3s for us. If not we can move on
Unsure about this…he wasnt getting much play time with Atlanta ??
Hi! I am not a bulls fan but stumbled onto this video through the recommended feed. I just wanted to say I really like your speaking voice and I admire your ability to impart info (whether it be about the managerial or on-the-court tactical aspects of the current team) in a concise yet fun way. I felt like I learned a lot here, and I will probably start watching your channel once the season starts. Keep up the great work, man!
Him playing with Swain and Jones in the backcourt kind of fits. A legit spot up shooter with two playmaker slashers and two better defenders. He's going to have spots to be beneficial.
Taking on other folks SCRUB AZZ players won't help the BULLS , Stop being so F-ING deseparate and take your F-ING medicine. Sure the BULLS should win a couple more games than before BUT bring in some more CALEB's and stop grabbing every MFer that is on the waiver wire.
I HATED ROB. And I am so happy he is gone. I donāt like Miller either for the same reason. But I donāt know if I want him off the team tho
Not a bad move šÆ
It's Because Of The Age
How much extra defense will the other four on the floor have to play just to have a 30% 3pt shooter?
AKME never should have gotten Dillingham & instead should have gotten TSJ for Ayo trade ( ofc he never should have traded Ayo in general ) at the least plus the 2nd rd picks
Chicago Bulls went from bubblegum Billy Donovan to buddy Hill the grape big league chew
Buddy Hield aināt bringing nothin at this point
what it means to me is the bulls are trying to win and if they don't get into the playoffs they will have a better chance at high lottery pick
Owner heard cash, selling both our 2nd Rd picks wasn't enough. Ayo was listed as the 90th best player in the Nba btw. Smh.
I Pray that last roster spot is to bring Jayden Ivey back because he didn't do anything wrong. Pride is a sin
Jalen Smith being traded for a lot more than we would think is what I'm watching for. Portland has tons of Guards, needs some Bigs, Can we get Scoot Henderson? 76ers need a Center and Jalen Smith fits that need, can we get a Protected 1st? Pry not getting VJ. Lol. but Scoot Henderson. They have so many Guards in Portland ahead of him, he's a really good young talent.
