The Denver Nuggets Have a New Plan to Fix Their Defense | DNVR Nuggets Podcast Live
David Adelman is introducing a new Denver Nuggets strategy designed to improve their transition defense: crash the offensive glass, pressure the first ball handler and give Nikola Jokić and the defense time to get set. Jamal Murray and Marvin Bagley explain how the approach is being installed at training camp and why it could address one of Denver’s biggest weaknesses. We break down the plan, its risks and what it could mean for the Nuggets’ championship hopes on the DNVR Nuggets Podcast.

Regardless of the answers to that last exercise, I think what Adam was getting at easily revealed itself. The nuggets have 3 very interesting two way spots and you can largely answer each question with any one of them with different reasons. The front office has hit on the margins either through deft management or luck or likely a bit of both in a way we haven’t really seen for this team in the Jokic era. They have managed to do this also in a stretch where they’re severely hamstrung by their top end contracts.
With this Nembhard signing, I find myself very impressed with how this summer has panned out. No major shakeups which I was personally hoping for, but in the end that may have been a good thing, especially if the coaching staff with their new additions are capable of changing up some of the old, tired processes.
For me, the answer to most of the questions at the end of the show would likely be Nembhard but my heart wants Cam to workout. A guy like that, if he can get his head right and better focus his game can legitimately increase the number of positive outcomes for this team. Super athletes with Jokic is a cheat code in the NBA, we literally saw it with a Westbrook one year from retirement. The fantasy of a not even 25 year old Whitmore and his one track mind to attack the basket…come on man
The biggest problem with Aldeman is not that he doesn't motive players, that's bad, but come on, that's on Jok. Also it's not about details. It's about knowing the winning formula. If he's sticking with "we had the best offense and just 10 bad days," it's worse than we thought. PO and regular season are two different sports. Dude basically failed to understand that in PO they will take away the exact thing what makes you the best offense. (It's not that you missed shost, the offense was trash, I vomited several times looked at it) And if you don't know how to react, you are not falling down to being the 2nd best offense, or 5th or 6th…you are suddenly the worst offense. Basically you can't score at all. Every 5 y.o. knows how to win with Jok, 1) be the best offense by involving the whole team = score a lot so you don't play in transition, 2) keep your guy in front of you because there's not rim protection. Jok is good defender, great rebounder and can indeed keep his guy in front of him, but he can't put out fires for the other players, that's why having Murray sucks so bad.
she's touching my special skill!
Another year of Spencer Jones is a massive mistake. The era of those sized players at that position ended decades ago. A net negative in almost all aspects of the game. Same could be argued for Bagley
"basketball stigmata", funny
This is a cup of optimism that I cannot swallow right now. I need to see actual defense first.
