It’s just that they’ve been very clear that he’s been mature in ways that aren’t like teenage rookies. Nurk said that he wasn’t always talking and not listening like a rookie player. Ainge talked about how they didn’t have to teach him about having a routine. Hardy talked about how he acted beyond his years and doesn’t bring I’m a top draft pick drama.
Not really sure what Bryce meant by 7 year player, which sounded hyperbolic to me, probably meant he doesn’t wait to be guided and that he just fits in as he’s trying to learn by listening, paying attention and working it out. How he feels older because he’s focused and quiet.
Anyhow, no one is acting like “omg, wait when you see it!” No one is freaking out, and mostly just responding to most of the question being about what they think of them.
There have been good signs from when they bring him up without being asked.
The point is that there is a lot of good signs. Darryn is a quick learner, a hard worker, coming in as a more mature NBA player than anyone expected.
No one is being blown away and coming away with omg this kid is already the best player on the team energy. What they have indicated was that they are interested to see how far he goes and thinks he has a lot of promise.
2:26 Kawai-et assassin!
So excited
Is it the 4th yet ha knowing the jazz they wont play DP ha
He's going to be the best pro from that draft class. However, playing time will likely give the edge to Wilson and Boozer for ROTY. However, if DP has close enough stats and the best winning % then he could take it.
IM SO PUMPED
