  1. I saw Bill Simmons suggest JALEN DUREN for DYSON DANIELS and ONYEKA OKONGWU… LOL!! I would not even consider trading Duren for Daniels straight up, much less giving up Okongwu as well. That would be absolutely CRAZY, especially considering Duren would be a free agent next summer if he takes on the qualifying offer!

I’d consider a different scenario: sending up the contracts of DFS, Jock Landale and maybe Asa Newell (for salary cap purposes), alongside the 2027 lottery pick (vía New Orleans/Milwaukee) and a 2029 swap. Landale's and DFS contract could come off the books next season and the big asset is the 2027 pick. Detroit is the deseprate team in this equation, not the Hawks…

  6. No. No. No. No to trading Dyson or NAW. I think Duren is only slightly better than OO. But I think OO is primed for a breakout year. Like he might be the next MIP… and he's on a better contract…and he fits the team… and is a fabulous teammate…and he may age better than Duren.

  10. Nothing about trading for Duren makes any sense at the price he is demanding. Like Brad said, the roster is built a certain way and it would be a head scratcher to do this and give up the draft picks and Dyson/okongwu.

  12. It seems like the Hawks “want” Duren like they wanted AD, TM3, Peyton Watson, Giannis, Jaylen Brown and everyone else that there’s been rumors about in the past year.

I love seeing this FO being proactive and being the first name connected to every possible available player. I also love for the first time being confident in the FO not getting fleeced overpaying for anyone that doesn’t make sense.

I do think a NAW+filler+pick for Duren deal could make sense. Giving up Okongwu doesn’t make sense to me since we’d still only have 1 starting level center and he’s under a great contract. I’m not sure Duren is the best complementary center with Okongwu but I’d love to see the Hawks get someone else (maybe Gafford, Hartenstein, Jarrett Allen or someone else) if they become available. If Okongwu can play 6-12 minutes with another center with his shooting and passing abilities, it’s pretty easy to give them both 30+ min per game.

  13. Thing is, Detroit Manager has clearly said that they arent interested in trading Duren and want to resign him. I dont know where thedisconnect is here between him and Detroit, but in terms of a trade, that is offthe tablewhich includesthe Hawks, so I dontquite get why theres still a lot of talk about this guy and a Hawks trade. Aint gonna happen. Not now, and not this season anyway.
