Raptors Make Multiple SURPRISING Moves…

The Toronto Raptors just made their final roster calls before opening night, and they weren’t what most people expected. Nimari Burnett, Tyreke Key, Jamarion Sharp, Tyson Degenhart and Jalen Celestine were all waived. Nate Bittle got a two-way contract without playing a single minute of camp or preseason. And Toronto left its last two-way spot wide open on purpose.

In this video, Ben Rogers breaks down why the cuts happened on October 17th, why the Raptors bet on a seven-footer still in a walking boot, and how the hard cap from the Kawhi Leonard trade is behind every move. With $963,598 of room under the first apron, Toronto can’t even sign a rookie to the 15th spot. That makes the open two-way the most important seat on the roster heading into Wednesday’s opener against Chicago.

Who should get that last two-way spot? Let me know in the comments.

  1. I agree with keeping Bittle due to uncertainty with Poeltl (health and performance) but don’t agree with keeping Poeltl as their starter. They need an elite rebounder like Donovan Clingan and Kel'el Ware.
Tired of watching other teams out rebounding the Raps.

  2. I trust webb with these moves. This is his specialty , and he is a genius and of of the best in the league budgeting the cap;/apron and whch players to best fit the final roster to add , and for the future.

  3. Awesome video and super informative, as per usual for you man! And hey, the new style and graphics for your video are str8 🔥, nicely done Ben, nuff respect! 👏🏿👏🏿

  4. I'm happy for Bittle but I don't agree with any of this special treatment for Jaden Bradley. He doesn't deserve a standard contract let alone a two-way contract over the guys they just waived. Key is already a similar enough better player than him. They could have instead used their 2nd rounder to draft a center to compensate Poeltl's lack of rebounding and defensive skill.

  5. Nobody can teach the height 7'5"!!!!
He is a terror defensively and he has a soft touch shooting. KEEP HIM goddamn it, keep him. Give him the absolute minimum and park him even as a 3rd choice in Center position!
Give him 5 minutes per game and see how he develops.
What was the management expecting? Ralf Sampson? WTF!
When this organization will get serious about a defensive threat in the Post????

  6. Interesting that they played a lot in Pistons game but still be cut out. Anyway, I found the answer why those players played that game very hard… because it is an exam for staying in the team…

  7. Glad they signed Malachi Smith. He looks like a player that is coming into his own and could actually contribute when called upon (if given the opportunity).
Agree with your take on Jaden Bradley…I Wouldn’t really trust him at this point handling the rock(running the offence), way to turnover prone and needs to put more muscle on his frame, the kid is talented but he still needs more seasoning. Can tell Alijah Martin put in some serious work in the off-season which is great to see 👌🏻
Really rounding out his game to go with that dawg mentality!

  8. I was on the Sharp bandwagon but after watching him play against legit nba players, I can see why they let him go. He was looking lost out there and Jalen Duran was bullying him at times.

  9. So, basically, everyone who played phenomenally well yesterday against Detroit's main roster got cut?))))) Why didn't they let their average roster players get some practice instead? Smells like schizophrenia, honestly…

  10. Good move on, leaving sharp for the g league watching him play is frustrating. The guy is getting bullied out of position by guards a foot shorter, then him. Hopefully, he can put on some lbs let zion mentor him on nutrition only hope 😂
