Why Mavs Fans Are Upset Kyrie Irving Didn’t Play in the Home Opener + Sergio De Larrea(!)

1. Maybe Dallas knew they were going to get beat by the Spurs. I still say they are setting up Kyrie to be traded. I am sure they are fielding offers now, but the really good offers won't come until they are closer to the trade deadline.

2. I mean Dallas knew the home opener was coming up. They should have not played him against Indy. My guess is Dallas knew they werent beating the Spurs so go for the winnable game in Indy.

3. It was a scam to fill the stadium… the people that decide these things in Mavs are filth and don’t give a fuck about fans except for their money…. Shameful

4. Sergio should be starting. I have said this for months. Yes, there will be tough nights. But he is exactly on Coopers timeline AND he would take pressure off Kyrie at point guard. They wont do it though.

5. They not trying to let him get injured before they trade him

6. Brian Wright secret trade rumor: Sergio for Luke Kornet, Spurs best 2nd round 2027 pick, one of Keldon's llamas, season rodeo tickets for 15, and unlimited breakfast tacos for one year.🎉

7. I know you won’t but here in Spain we call him Sergio and we are a little disappointed that you call him Larry…. He agreed with you because he has manners and just arrived but it is Sergio

8. The comment section is insufferable, good God. People (and bots), get a grip.

9. Good that means he’s going to be fresh when he come here to MIAMI let’s gooo😂 3:03

10. Every fan across the league should be upset. We are a week into the season and guys are being sat out of games already. And we wonder why soft tissue injuries are happening so much. These guys are being treated like babies.

11. What makes me excited about this team is that it's not complete. Adding Aldama would make this offense great. So many open looks for the bigs in the mid range area and they're not looking at the basket. You add Aldama, those are knock down jumpers.

    Not even including Lively 💪🏽💪🏽

12. Gotta keep Kai healthy we can’t assume he will play many if any back to backs. Specially if coop is and knowing the chances to win this one not healthy aren’t high. Just let him Rest till Monday against the heat

13. Fool MFFL once shame on you, fool MFFL countless times shame on MFFL

14. I'm happy with how the Mavs performed those first 3 quarters.

I'll ignore that 4th quarter, but there was a good bit of sloppy bad passing that was unforgivable.

15. Aldama and Lively are both doing light practices now.
This team is going to be a real threat when fully healthy.

16. I gotta say, I think I was wrong about Dusty. I love what he is doing with this team. They play hard on BOTH ends. I hope this continues but I like what Im seeing so far!

17. Samre people would be beside themselves if the Mavs rush KY back and ended his season too

18. Dusty needs to keep playing Sergio to give him a chance to beat Wilson and Acuff for ROTY

19. Mavs cooked man smh will Joel play more games

20. I like Sergio & Sasser together! Larry does need to get stronger with the ball. He gets bullied at the point of attack, at times. You could see the pressure was impacting him early in the 3rd. Then he became an initiator of contact. I thought he handled the pressure better after he made that adjustment. He’s a really smart player! Im just impressed how Dusty is using everyone.

21. Am I crazy or do Larry and Sasser have a lot of chemistry playing together in the backcourt

22. This is why Jordan was still playing all 82 games when he was almost 40, because he felt the fans deserved it. Kyrie needing a day off after 2 games is just yet another reason why people think this is a soft, weak willed era.

23. Man, Sergio looks more like the #9 pick to me. Sergio and Sasser look really good playing together. And Zach is sneaky good on those little things like dive cuts, help defense and fast break points. These young guys are starting to show me something except Rez. Rez just ain't showing me shit really. I mean setting screens is cool, but is that all that he can provide? That's crazy work. I don't wanna be that guy but man, we really tanked last year for a screener? 🤦 I expected him to be a Bam Adebayo type player at least. It's not crazy to ask if you're a #9 pick.

24. May made an interesting comment! He wants to see Sergio play more off ball. Is this the end of Max Christie?

25. Risacher has gone from looking like this is not gonna work, to "dang he actually does have a skillset that can help us long term" His size is real, it affects shots.

DeLarrea looked like Luka. You can tell he has borrowed from his game. Super excited about that.

Rez looked a little lost and had a stretch where he made a mistake like 4 straight possessions.

26. Sergio looked solid so far? Or just last night?

27. BECAUSE DUSTY SUCKS

28. I don't get it. This was to be expected in my mind. Kyrie is almost 35 and coming back from a long ass injury. This was a great trial by fire game to test out the young bloods. I'm feeling good watching the games again. Even with the losses there are things to learn from them.

29. Kyrie is sure he is not going to be traded–and that the Earth is flat. Double his scoring average to get his IQ.

30. I didn't expect him to play they said he wasn't going to play on back to back

31. It seems suspicious that Kyrie cut his game early by fouling out the night before for the first time in his career. I think something might’ve not felt right

32. It’s not a big deal. People will get a chance to see him play at home. I understand the frustration, but Kyrie’s health is more important for this long season? Also, if people have been following the team, it was discussed. He may not play in back-to-back games throughout the season.

33. It’s definitely a win for the Mavs if everyone in the line up.
I so glad to see the fire in their playing
    again!

34. I think if you play in conference and same division team on a back to back, and you play an out of conference team the day before. I think I know what’s the best decision what team to play.

35. Yeah, casuals may be mad, but real fans are not. Let us Ease Irving back. This also turned out to be a good thing. It let other guys show their worth.
    May has been awesome.

I hate how the media loves to start drama. So ridiculous

36. I just don’t understand how Kyrie played 25 minutes and then he doesn’t play the next night smh

37. Start Sergio and trade Kyrie

38. I am not a Mavs fan, but love the intensity of Cooper Flagg. SERIOUSLY, that young man is a monster. I am rooting for his fast return after that bullshit foul against the Pacers. Honestly, Nesmith should be suspended. I am a 90's basketball fan, and even back then that foul would have been nonsense.

39. At least the tickets were cheap..at $277 average for the opener.

40. I'll say this….the role players MOSTLY shut me up!!! I was certain that this game, without Ky & Coop, would end up being a 20+ point blowout loss. But major props to everyone I was talking some shit about.

I thought PJ had a really great game. He allowed the offense to come to him & wasn't settling for 3pt shots. Christie's paint & midrange game was on point today…he certainly didn't allow Wemby to spook his middie. Naji had a tremendous game. Stayed away from the 3pt shot and was dead set on touching the paint every time he got the ball. Risacher is starting to become a BAD DUDE out there!!!

But HOLY SHITBALLS did Sergio break out in a big bad way!!! I loved his game!! He started off taking it to the cup and hitting some really nice floaters & his 3pt shot was a thing of beauty. And I liked his effort on defense. Playing a LOT of zone but he did get a deflection on a pass when he hustled to the corner cause the zone had been sucked into the paint and the Spurs had like 3 seconds on the shot clock….of course I think it ended up being an inbound to Wemby who tapped it in, that is the Spurs cheat code on low clock inbound plays but against any other team the Mavs D would likely get a shotclock violation on those plays & all because Larry read the play & got his hand in the passing lane.

And what if the Mavs have also hit on Risacher? I don't expect him to EVER look like a #1 overall pick type of player. But what if he develops into your average solid Top 12 first round pick and is a quality starter that gets some All-Star talk but isn't a perennial All-Star guy.
