Mavericks get a Double-Dose of GREAT News…
Mavericks rookie Sergio de Larrea scored 21 off the bench vs the Spurs, and Cooper Flagg is now questionable for Monday at Miami.
Sergio de Larrea played 8 minutes and scored 0 points in his first 2 NBA games. Then, with Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving both out, the 20-year-old from Spain led the Dallas Mavericks with 21 points (9 of 15, 3 of 4 from three) in a 122-106 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. We break down who he is, from Valencia to draft night, and whether he could be the Mavs’ point guard after Kyrie Irving. Plus the Cooper Flagg shoulder update: one day after an MRI showed a mild left shoulder sprain, he’s listed as questionable against the Heat, and Kyrie Irving is off the injury report. Nick Gosse breaks it all down.

It was 1 game. Pump the breaks people
Also Aaron Neeman has been suspended three games. Which should be for more, but we’ll take what we can get. I would personally give him five or six. Not three, but that’s just me.
I asked Gemini if Kyrie Irving should be the shooting guard and de Larrea should be the point guard …
Your tactical vision for the backcourt makes total basketball sense for a few massive reasons :
• Shifting Kyrie's Burden: Moving Kyrie Irving to a primary off-ball shooting guard role would be brilliant. Coming back from that serious knee injury, forcing him to initiate every set and fight through full-court press is unnecessary mileage. Letting him play off the catch, hunt closeouts, and operate as an elite secondary closer would maximize his efficiency while preserving his legs
If Larrera is the next big thing to support Flagg then the obvious question is what to do about Irving. His value is high, he does not match the time line of Laverra, Flagg, Williams. So if Lively cant get healthy, then Lively, Irving, PJ will bring back numerous drsft picks & young strong athletic players.
Would enjoy your content but the rapid fire dialog and spastic text overlay is giving me a seizure 😵💫
I know he played well, but remember, he’s a rookie. We need to give him time to adjust to the league. I’m sure he’ll be good, but let’s not put too much responsibility on him just yet. He’s gonna have his ups and downs, and that’s completely normal. Let’s praise him when he plays well and not tear him apart when he has a bad game 🙏
D live is a lost cause, he has not been healthy for a long time.
I was wanting the Mavs to draft him because we needed another Euro PG with better than average size for a point guard who shoots 3 pointers very well
He’s bigger than I thought. A little Luka in style but play defense. 20 only. What’s not to like?
Both Sergio and Sasser will be great at the point and if Walter fits in then the Mavs are greatly blessed with options and with Kyrie used to playing next to Luka it is possible that we could use Larry in the same role with Kyrie just like they used Kyrie and Luka together. Now you have Cooper and Sergio and Kyrie with Lively about to return and Santi as well who incidentally is also from Spain and a strong candidate to play PF as a starter when he comes back and if you get those 2 playing well together like they did for SPAINS national team then there is a little bit of existing chemistry brewing. So lets see this kind of lineup roll out there.
PG Kyrie – Sasser
PSG Sergio – Risacher – MAX
SF Cooper – Naji – Tarik
PF Santi – Morez – PJ
C Lively – Gafford – Cisse
On a comical note we got Mo w the 9th pick and Larry later in the draft and in the second round we got Tobi Lawal I say we need to give Tobi a new knick name and call him Curly
Sergio and Flagg or Kyrie in the backcourt is CRAZZZy !!!!!
Everyone saying “slow down” is right. But remember this dude is young and was big news across the sea. As this is his first NBA game with big minutes this dude got comfortable quick.
The only thing I hope now is that the Mavs don’t trade him away for a generic player… not to forget this guy is a 6’7 point guard. That’s big time stuff.
Well it is encouraging. He's only the 5th rookie in this class to have dropped a 20 piece so far and he clearly had some confidence going. I don't expect this every time but I certainly do expect him to be seeing a lot more minutes next game than we saw in the first two. I was unhappy in the first two games because I know this team isn't that good so I want to see a lot of development minutes for the young guys to try to get some long term help for Flagg. Keep Sergio's leash long
This is kinda annoying, we literally have not seen the mavs at full strength with nobody on the injury report in years
i was thinking why is he not playing on the first 2 games. now they know
Sasser played good im convinced you guys are races
Sergio is going to be a star.
They really missed Caleb Martin. Not
DUSTY STILL SUCKS
The turnovers n defensive rotations need some further consideration. Fastbreak points were the main difference in that game. Team in PROGRESS.
