The Sixers Just Sent The Entire NBA a Warning

The Philadelphia 76ers started 6-1, the best start in the East, and every one of those six wins came down to the last five minutes. Is Philly actually good, or just lucky? Tyrese Maxey, LeBron James, Joel Embiid and the Sixers’ clutch record, broken down.

Why the Sixers are always behind (a 23rd-ranked offense and a midrange-heavy shot profile), the three reasons they keep winning fourth quarters (Maxey, the league’s lowest turnover rate, and a top-three defense with VJ Edgecombe), what could break it (the glass, health), and a call on the Detroit and Cleveland week.

  1. Whole video is just flip flopping and stating the obvious. Like I get ur tryna be unbiased but stick to a point. Plus how you gonna say Philly ain’t the best team in the East but then you go ahead and say the other teams are? 7 games in btw. Keep the same standards for all teams

  2. The title should be something like: Analytics, They Are Garbage Made For Clicks

This team has four first ballot hall of famers on it. Multiple NBA champions – one of whom is the discussion for the best player in the history of the game. The bench is full of long guns. They are easily the best defensive team in basketball. They have a switch that they can flip, that few, if any, teams can hang with. And it's all happening with significant injury time lost.

And analytics says 'well, they're supposed to be worse.'

This is exactly like the Cavs losing a playoff series that, analytically, they were 'supposed' to be up in.

  3. I really miss sports content before everything became so overly reliant on analytics… not every team was the 2016-2018 Golden State Warriors. A win is a win, and teams that find a way to make it happen, even when it appeared they shouldn’t have, deserve their just due respect. 🫡

  4. The biggest takeaway from the sixers is that they are fighters any you cannot count them out of any game at all. They are dangerous. It would be one thing if they were front running all these teams but these are GOOD teams, that are losing to Philly in the last few minutes

  5. They seem to have it all together and they are always fun to watch. I said this before the season – Sit Back Relax and Enjoy the Show! Maxie has been amazing but the team just works well together! They don't get as many offensive rebounds because every one of them is back on defense and that is a good thing. Sure, we could use a few more rebounds but these 5 guys are badass together!

  6. Gotta love when people use analytics and alternate record keeping methods to try and demonstrate what a record should be, but leave out what is quite literally the most important factor. How about taking the opposing team into consideration? Philly has played the current champs twice, the other ECF team, and another very strong team in Detroit. That is very different than a weaker schedule to start the season.

  7. Maybe I'm just looking at it differently. I don't know but I don't think they're a threat yet. Everybody is forgetting that it is inevitable that Embiid will get hurt and LeBron will slow down in the sense of playing two-way ball. He's going to put up the stats offensively like he always does but if you think he's going to play two-way ball in the playoffs and transition as fast as you all want him to, you're delusional.

Not only that, like other people are saying in the comments, their whole spiel right now is the "fourth quarter he's him" mentality where they keep on coming back. That's not going to happen in the playoffs, especially when LeBron's slowing down and Embiid's probably injured.

  8. Also a very good sign they're having those results and figuring things out WHILE facing the East favorites (outside of Boston and maybe Toronto as well as Atlanta )
