Like many of you all, I’ve been using League Pass with India VPN to watch Blazers games (as well as nationally televised games) for under $14 a year. Looks like they’ve updated league pass and they now detect when you’re using a VPN– BUT this isn’t the end.
First of all, you can still purchase League Pass for cheap using VPN and for some reason they’re not blocking that. I use India VPN (Private Internet Access) and it comes out to less than $14 for LP subscription. if your VPN has trouble with India then I think Mongolia is the next best thing with reliable connection around $40ish dollars for a year of LP.
In order to bypass LP’s new security you will need [Location Guard](https://github.com/chatziko/location-guard). It is available as an extension for a few supported browsers. Once you have that installed, go ahead and set your FIXED LOCATION to anywhere that’s not in the Blazers blackout area. It really doesn’t matter, but I just went ahead and set it to Mumbai, India. Also make sure that your default level is set to “use fixed location”.
IMPORTANT STEPS
– Sign out of NBA.com and clear out your NBA.com cookies. You can do this by going to the settings for your browser and searching “cookies”. Then from there you can either delete all your cookies or search for “NBA” and just delete everything from NBA.com
– Next you want to log in to your account with both location guard AND your VPN enabled. Like the other step, the location actually doesn’t have to be the same as your purchased LP. As long as it is out of the blackout area. So if you’re having trouble connecting to India VPN you can just connect to mexico or something instead.
– AFTER you succesfully logged into LP with both VPN and Location Guard enabled. You can now safely disable VPN and not worry about VPN anymore unless you have to sign in again. In fact, the video player won’t load if you have VPN active.
– With Location Guard enabled you can now watch Blazer games! Rip city baby.
– If you ever have an issue just delete your NBA.com cookies and log in again with your VPN and Location Guard.
edit: Also just to clear up. It seems that League Pass only cares if you’re in a blackout area or USA (for national games)– so theoretically you only have to use India VPN once (when you pay for it), and then you can use VPN from literally anywhere else (ideally a non-blackout area/country) when you have sign in. And if you never sign out of League Pass then you don’t even have to use a VPN again– only Location Guard.
