Imagine what? Kawhi plays one in a blue moon

Magic also recognized that AD was the better move in the same sentence.

All reports allude to Kawhi not wanting to play for the Lakers because we already had LeBron. He is the type of guy who wants to be the defacto number one on a team and with LeBron that was almost never going to be the case.

Fun in theory. Kawhi and PG have missed more time than AD. We dodged bullets.

It would’ve been the same as landing AD. Another broken superstar

I think that was the original plan after Kawhiis championship in 2019. The Lakers wanted him.

Kawhi wanted to play and move to LA but he wanted his own team. He also wanted a franchise that didn’t give him shit for time off or rushing him to recover from injuries like the issues he had in San Antonio. I think he’s even said he wants to compete against LeBron for LA more then he wants to play with him. Clippers was the perfect home for him. Don’t think he will ever join the Lakers unfortunately, at least not till LeBrons gone.

Also Magic….. Listen I talked to Giannis agent and he told me he was coming on a vet minimum so I said ok ok I went to Jeanie and Rob and said we can lure Giannis on a minimum. But then Kurt said no but here’s the thing Jeanie is like a sister to me I just want what’s best for the Lakers.

Didn’t magic also talk to kawhi and uncle Dennis? Clearly he didn’t land kawhi. Magic is just a lot of talking when it comes to his tenure with the lakers at this point…

  8. There’s still a chance they only win 1 chip due to injuries. 2020 is a given but in 2021, AD was out by the 1st round, Kawhi by the 2nd round and LeBron hobbled.

Then now it would be lebron/AD/Kawhi taking turns missing like 5-10 games at a time.

  9. Subash2019

We would’ve got him in 2019 if Clippers didn’t get a co star by trading for PG

He’s more broken than AD. Rather have prime AD with Bron anyways

I thought LeBron was too smart to fall for Magic’s “smile and BS” gimmick.

I wonder what else Magic said.

    Laker championships: 1

    Clipper championships: 0

Where have y’all been? Why is this news?

I’m not sure if Kawhi would have been a better move per se, but one thing I do appreciate is Magic’s ability to be in on the pitches for free agents to join the Lakers.

He’s been an ambassador for the Lakers for a long time and along with Kobe are probably the most influential Lakers in basketball and they both loved the Lakers more so than other teams having played for us their entire careers.

Im curious as to what and how effective our strategies will be for future free agent meetings. Magic’s confidence in this interview and persona in general feels like a winning formula in such meetings but if he’s not sitting in those meetings anymore, do we have someone else who can be a commanding and respectable figure to speak on behalf of the Lakers to Free Agents? Close the deal for us? I know Kobe would have done that for us if we asked him but I don’t know who else is going to do it for us now. Rob and Jeanie I doubt have enough pull or respect to get free agents to come play for them.

This wasn’t instead of AD, this was in addition to AD. I think the relentless pursuit of a 3rd superstar is because it’s what the Lakers promised LeBron. But here we are several years later and there is still no 3rd superstar and we even have people talking about just upgrading role players instead of adding someone like Kawhi Leonard.

Wasn’t this always the plan and reason they waited out on signing people? I don’t understand why people in the comments are crying like it made a difference?
