Remember when the Knicks desperately wanted Obi and was even considering trading up for him? Could have had Haliburton instead.

  2. Jimm120

are Malik and Jarred any good?

Cause I feel Obi and a draft pick is too much for them

  3. scavenger1012

The Knicks are going to trade for someone and then never play him

  4. Fitz-magic1

Jarred Vanderbilt is not a better player or talent than Obi. Beasley Iā€™m not sure about

  5. obi is my mf boy but Iā€™m down for this, vanderbilt and beasley have been solid for jazz this season. let toppin actually play somewhere else.

  6. Beasley isn’t better than Fournier and Vanderbilt will end up playing 15 mins so what’s the point of this trade?

I would love this trade if weā€™re priced out of OG. Check the gamelogs for these dudes, getting Vanderbilt to backup Julius would be a huge rebounding and defensive jump. Malik would give us veteran insurance if Grimes or IQ are struggling/get injured.

This obviously doesnā€™t make us contenders, but I think a trade like this really completes this iteration of the team.

No fuck Danny Aigne, donā€™t give him more draft capital. you know they have enough.

  9. joshuagreen38

I donā€™t want Malik too much of a chucker

Thatā€™s why (and other reasons of course) Iā€™m not a GM, Im too petty, Id be like ā€œFuck you Aingeā€ after the Donovan shit he pulled, unless he allows to get fleeced lol

A starting 5 of Sims, Ju, Grimes, IQ and JB backed by Hart, JV, RJ, Beas and Deuce works (on paper, lol). Only thing that I worry about is Beasley’s inefficiency.

  12. JonnyGBuckets

Who knows why but Malik Beasley is having the worst shooting season of basically his entire career this year.

Maybe a slightly buy low opportunity? I don’t hate him as a microwave bench scorer. They need some scoring help with that second unit.

Vanderbilt is good, probably an upgrade on Obi right now as painful as that is to say.

Really going to come down to the pick(s) they’re giving up.

i mean, considering the jazzā€™ asking price for beasley and vanderbilt is a first each and this would get us off fourniers contract and be an improvement over obi and avoid his contract extension issue im not too terribly opposed, but it all depends on what draft capital we give. personally im not at all big on beasley and vandy doesnt excite me all that much, but ill admit i havent seen too much of him

  14. knick4life

Jazz have been shopping those two. There was a rumor they wanted John Collins and a first round pick.

Seems like it would make us better. It really depends what draft compensation is. Knowing Ainge one protected first won’t cut it. Still skeptical this gets done.

Would be an awesome trade. Unfortunately hoopshype has never been right on rumors since Iā€™ve started hearing about them.

    Unpopular opinion:

I have no idea why Malik Beasley has value but Evan Fournier doesnā€™t. They are pretty much the same player. Volume shooters that can do a little more offensively but bad defensively.

Anyways, I want nothing to do with trading with Ainge. He always gets too value for his players. Vanderbilt would be getting 12 minutes per game here. I donā€™t know where Beasley would get minutes either.

This is a good trade for us. We rly need a solid pf outside of Randle. Also if we trade him … we will have a starting PF.

  18. AustinRiversNYK

Hopefully the draft pick compensation is a 2nd round pick

  19. oofokay92

i love obi but v8 on this team would beef up the defense a lot. if ainge isnt on crack this time with how many picks he wants id definitely do it.

  20. Cautious-Ad-9554

2 decent rotation players that future Obi Toppin is much better then.

  21. kidkuro

Vanderbilt is good this would be a nice move. It isn’t sexy but it is smart in regards to cost while still improving the roster in a noticeable way.

  22. mavrik2190

It would be a good trade. Can’t hold Obi back any longer. A protected 1st rounder will likely be included. I would rather Eric Gordon and Tari Eason for the same package. Gordon drives in the paint and Beasley doesn’t. I do understand that the Knicks want to get players in their timeline and both Beasley (26) + Vanderbilt (23) do that. I think the Knicks should do it. Fair Trade. Good for now and the future.

  23. wizardofweird

If the draft picks arent crazy pull the trigger. Send Obi and Fournier where they can actually get play time

  24. Tacitus_99

I have my issues with this front office, but itā€™s nice that for once theyā€™re focused on adding young players. Getting rid of Fournier and getting useful pieces in return is worth it.

  25. Fyretorsomonkey

    Booooooo I love obi šŸ˜šŸ„ŗ

I mean it’s a fair trade and probably makes us better but.

    Boooooooooooooooo

  26. ZoidbergSaysWoop

Beasley and Vanderbilt don’t fit with the Knicks and would only take playing time from Grimes, Barrett, and Quickley since Brunson is planted at the one and Obi works perfect as a backup four in small ball lineups.

Giving up on Toppin early is a surefire mistake.

I’d take Fournier over Beasley right now.

Fournier is the consummate professional and if Beasley loses playing time because of his lack of renown on defense, he will ruin the chemistry from the bench.

  27. Pieguyxx

Id be ok with this if its for like one protected pick

  28. YDoTheKnicksHateme

This sounds too fair for the jazz to be interested

  29. aesop_fables

Can someone bless me with a quick bio of Beasley? Iā€™m familiar with him but not totally. Thanks.

I don’t have any faith in this trade and I’m trying to remember what I thought of those two players and I can’t even remember. If I’m not crazy I remember Vanderbilt is 6 8 but he doesn’t play small forward he plays the 4 or even the small ball 5 and Beasley is a shooting guard who’s not a defender and isn’t a dead eyed shooter. As for Fornier and Obi I’d rather wait until the offseason to explore those trades at our leisure instead of making some big grab and roiling the waters in the locker room when they aren’t even gonna move the needle for us. I’d much rather get rid of Rose and Cam and get back a 3 who can play some D and maybe be able to shoot league average from 3(I have no idea who that is admittedly)

  31. If we make this trade I really hope that Thibs goes back to a 10-man rotation instead of benching McBride or Beasley. Feels like McBride is starting to trust his jumper more and more recently, and an IQ – Deuce – Beasley – Vando – Hart bench is really solid on both ends of the floor.
