3 years too late but I’ll take it!

  2. Downashland

Well deserved. We believe in you JV!!!

  3. malikthetechnique

He gets the players to buy in and he isn’t afraid to call them out when necessary. Congrats Coach!

  4. kne_1987

let’s go coach! maybe standards are skewed after nash but a JV hard playing / bought in team has been great to watch.

Gonna regret This one. Last time he had a young team was in Orlando and it was an absolute dumpster fire

  6. spitz1674

Good move; he’s done well in each of his opportunities so far and seems to get buy in from the team. Gotta establish the culture early on with all the transition lately and not leave things in question moving forward.

  7. saveuskevin

He better play Cam and Clax more. That’s all I care about.

    Well deserved.

And he comes from the Kenny Atkinson school of development, which is exactly what the Nets need to be thinking long term right now.

Now can the national TV broadcasts stop calling him the interim coach even though he was hired full time in November?

I really hope he improves because he really is not a strategic coach. He is a coach that gets along with players and he’s a very nice man. Here’s hoping he improves in his playcalling and rotations. He’s a nice guy, so I’m rooting for him.

    Thank god.

This team needs consistency and JV seems like someone that can bring that.

  13. areagrae

He’s coach the new group of players for like 3 games. He seemed like the right guy for a star studded team, but this feels extremely shortsighted after watching him coach this very new roster for only a handful of games

  14. elonepb

He’s the right man for right now and I’m glad he’s been shown the confidence to be the man for the next couple of years. I still have some question marks about him but there’s no doubt he was a monumental upgrade over Nash.

Great move. JV is the perfect coach for this team.

  16. pax_africa

Bad idea! Should have at least waited to see how he finishes the regular season and his approach in the post season (If the nets make it )

  17. FajitaTits

A solid move in cleaning up the 3-year mess that was left behind

  18. ShampooMonster

Very happy with this. There was admittedly a small, twisted part of me that wondered if they’d pull a Charlotte/Clifford move and re-engage with Kenny, but this is the next best thing.

Better play Cam more+start him after the break.

  20. This makes sense. JV probably knew it was coming, so that’s why he felt empowered to talk about Ben Simmons’ lack of fit on this team.

This might be a pre-cursor to see more of Ben Simmons in order to drive up any residual trade value he may still have. I don’t think JV would play BS more than 15-20 minutes if winning games was a priority.

Great move. He’s an awesome guy and love his energy.

  23. TYPICAL_T0M

Probably our best coach since Frank Lawrence. So excited they finally locked him in.

  24. checkpush

Why the rush? He still already had a deal over next season. Just so unneccesary to sign him to an even longer extension now when the season is ongoing and better to take a hard look on things during the summer.

  25. MC_Fap_Commander

He learned under Roy Williams and Gregg Popovich. I expect some development years going forward and I don’t think you could ask for a better person to lead that.

  26. owmyheadhurt

I’m ultimately in favor of making this move, but was there a reason to do it now? As opposed to retaining flexibility a while longer?

  27. skinneej

Congrats and deserved. Looking forward to this next era of Nets basketball!

  28. Dalalimor3

Good news! Thank you JV for all you’ve done so far.
