About time
Players need to start negotiating no trade clauses into their contracts if they want to have this amount of control over their destinations.
Good. They need to make the penalties for stuff like this substantial. Players aren’t going to stop if it’s just $250k.
miami fans crying saying “this would only happen to us.” having a victim mentality once again lmao
The super team thing and the popularity contest with the players gets old.
His agent should of got a no trade clause.
The League is _super_ pissed off at Goodwin. That’s a lot of detail, and some very carefully worded caveats, that basically says Goodwin violated agent CoC rules, teams confirmed it, and that if he does it again he’ll be out of the NBA agent business.
The League can’t do anything to Lillard – CBA! – but they can absolutely suspend, bar and/or FUBAR Goodwin’s business, including any commissions he’s scheduled to receive (from, say, Dame’s contract).
The implied threat is that if Lillard doesn’t ‘cut the crap’, shut up, and report wherever he’s traded then Goodwin will suffer. It’s possible Lillard doesn’t care but Goodwin certainly got this message loud and clear: do this again and we’ll cut your throat.
Bravo Adam Silver. If Lillard wanted to control his trade destination, he needed to negotiate a no-trade clause. He could have. The Blazers would have done it, in exchange for paying him a little less. Lillard chose the money and Portland having the right to determine where he’s traded. It’s Lillard’s choice and LOLBOOHOO if he doesn’t like the consequences of his choices.
It’s Dame’s fault for not having a no trade clause….
Couldn’t Dame just list two other teams that have no feasible way to trade for him to skirt around the fine? Like if he said Miami, Phoenix, or the Warriors it’d still basically be only Miami because there’s not realistic options for the other two teams.
Do you think this makes Brad reconsider and try to take another stab at getting Dame?
Wait, so is this discipline for saying he wasn’t going to play, or for only picking one destination he wants to go to? What “similar comments” are they referring to here? What’s the punishment going to be, and is it gonna be harsh enough to actually stop players and agents from pulling this shit?
