The Real Reason the Raptors believe they can beat anyone…

The Toronto Raptors are in a delicate place right now where internal messaging and external optics are at a crossroads as the team heads for a likely collision course with the New York Knicks, an imperfect team that has had a lot of trouble getting over the hump in the playoffs themselves.

  1. I love your optimism! We have to believe in our team. True fans have to be happy with our progress, and should be excited for the future!

  2. I actually have so much faith in Mamu going into the playoffs. I love what he brings for us, but I also can't expect a lot if Darko wants to play Jakob for 35 minutes and CMB for like 20. I know CMB is going to bring a lot for us on both ends when he is on the floor.

  3. I genuinely feel like the problem lies in Darko. He is a decent coach, not great, not good, but decent. He, like so many others, knows this team is great, but can't put it together. It's like when Isiah Thomas, who coached the Pacers in the late 90s, was a great team, with only a decent coach, Larry Bird comes along, and he starts running the East. At some point, they are gonna have to replace Darko if they want to make a deep run.
That's my opinion, and he's on track to win 47 games this season, but that Knicks game. The Raptors had a chance to beat the Knicks without CMB, RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickley, but then that 2nd quarter meltdown happened, and Darko, in my opinion, didn't do enough to stop the bleeding when he should have. The offensive fouls (legit or not), he should have called a timeout when two of those calls were made in a row. When Mikhal Bridges stole the ball during the inbound to Ingram, when Scottie Barnes took the ball to the iron and did a finger roll (that missed) instead of a dunk! In a game like that, where teams are neck and neck, every possession of the ball counts.

  4. Thanks Rob. So good to hear someone who knows his stuff talk about being positive. Where does negative get you. Sure doesn't help you enjoy games. Sure doesn't help "your" team win. To be clear, when I say negative I don't mean pointing out mistakes in a game or grading players less than C if they have a bad game… I mean the "fans" that just spew sh*t without any thought or discussion or insight or ever trying to look for anything positive.
All that said, I don't know if the Raps are going to win any games in the playoffs but for all the reasons that you just outlined, I am glad they are going to get a chance. I am excited to see who shows up and shows out, win or lose. I wanna see Scottie release the beast. I wanna see CMB magically change the tenor of the whole game just by stepping on the floor. I wanna see Walter's beautiful 3's and steels. Sure, they might crumble but as you say there is lots to be learned from that too. I'll gladly take 46 wins and making the playoffs as a big plus. Let's not give up before they try. GO RAPS! AND THANKS AGAIN ROB.

  5. You've lost all objectivity and now are stubbornly standing behind your Scottie superstar take out of pride and hubris. He's a great player and building block, but is massively over hyped just like BI. I see us trading him in a year or two whenever new management arrives. Superstardom is self evident.

  6. the only reason ppl are mad at scottie is, we've seen aggressive scottie, which leads to winning or competitive games vs passive scottie which we blow games we're not suppose to. everyone is hurt at this time no excuses. leave it all out on the floor like it's your last game is all we ask as fans. even if we lose the series as long as the fan see 100% effort, we'll cheer no matter what
