Knick fans frustrated with an inconsistent RJ… then be prepared to be frustrated with an inconsistent OG. OG was frustrating in TO, because he was often injured and has peeked offensively. OG only averaging 15 points is for a reason. OG and Precious terrible dribblers in the paint as they always got their pocket picked. Precious lack of basketball IQ and is terrible at setting a pick got ugly to watch. They were part of the reason why Raps struggled and both are looking for big paydays. Good luck NY.

It sounds like a plan was pitched about signing another player that needs a little room for salary. Whatever was said must've made sense.
The Knicks would have never made the trade unless they had assurances that he would sign with them. This is the first domino to fall. Either they will make a trade before the deadline or wait until just before the draft to make a trade. There is no way they will make two picks this summer. Although I wouldn't be opposed to seeing them draft a center.
There was NO WAY we made this trade, without an under the table agreement he was going to do this. I'm excited, man! We still have holes to fill, losing IQ stings, but we're such a more well rounded team after this.

OG may take less, but if he's looking for 40m then he isn't taking 30m. Less could simply mean 38iml. I would bet money the contract has already been mostly agreed upon. Leon's son is his agent.
OG is going to be a Knick for at least the next 5 seasons possibly! He can guard 1-5. The knicks are playing chess even if the fans think they are playing checkers. Nobody even thought a trade with the Raptors was possible because of the law suit with them. This is why its important to remain patient instead of over-reacting to everything the Knicks do. IQ was not in the long term plans for the Knicks once they didn't reach a contract agreement over the summer. RJ will be a great player but the Knicks want to win now and can not waste Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson prime years while RJ is still developing. Them signing Donte was insurance for when IQ got traded and now they resigned Duece to a 3 year contract! I cant wait to see what other moves the Knicks have up their sleeves.

People fail to realize that OG is signed to CAA and Leon Rose son is the agent for OG 👁️. You would have to be crazy to think that OG is not going to resign with the Knicks . OG is about to get the most exposure he has ever had in his life which means more endorsement deals. OG is going to make out like a bandit 👀 🤑🤑🤑
Also, we know where either getting the Aunt Murray or Donovan Mitchell, but for the back up point guard position, we should get Tyus Jones and free agency this year he would be the perfect backup point guard. He doesn’t turn the ball over at all and he’s a score and he’s a facilitator.
I think you absolutely went into this trade knowing already 💯% that OG will resign with you and for how much yearly or else they never would have made this trade. The most underrated piece in all this is Precious Achiuwa. He is only 24 yrs old and gives us much needed Depth after losing pieces like Mitch Rob and Sims to injury. I think you see what he gives us this year and lock him up for a few years on the cheap. He originally came from a Miami Heat team that needs you to move without the ball and play defense. Think he will sneakily be a great fit for this team and not just some throw in.

Because of the money he's already lost early in his career, there is NO WAY he passes up on the highest free agency offer he gets… He lost out on millions because of early injuries… Not happening…
This makes the deal way way worse. Because if he was interested in NY enough to give us a discount, we could have waited until the offseason and signed him as a free agent. We could have moved IQ and RJ for another piece or even more draft assets if we needed them off the books to make room for OG. This is similar to when NY overpaid for Carmelo when he would have come a few months later anyway. Without Mitch this year it’s not like they were winning the chip. I like the addition of OG, but it’s an overpayment given the context.

If it’s true that you don’t know what is going to happen in the offseason, then it’s no guarantee the Knicks get this discount or that he even resigns. In that case, you have a lot for a guy who could walk. If it is closer to a done deal that the Knicks would get him to resign at a discount then, then it’s an over payment. This feels like a panic move even though I agree that OG is a better fit than RJ. If OG was locked up for 1 more year then I would feel differently because then getting him in the door before something changes that could impact his thinking would make sense.
