Every team that’s either ahead of us or tied with us in the standings are ALL looking to make team improvements by the deadline. Some after already making significant improvements in the offseason(Boston/Milwaukee) and there are some within the fanbase that still say we should stand pat after the OG trade. This team needs another reliable/ established scorer/facilitator/ball handler in the worst way possible. DJ Murray fits those needs in spades in addition to his defensive capabilities. The entire “waiting for a disgruntled star scenario” is as flawed a roster building strategy as not making draft selections in consecutive drafts. The OG trade was a sound move and had to be done, but as a result of it we sent out over 30 ppg a game and only got back 15 in return. To expect that OG is going to make some miraculous offensive leap is not realistic, he’s an ELITE high IQ, 3 and D specialist that will never be an offensive juggernaut. However, that production has to be replaced from somewhere and it won’t be done internally. As much as Thibs loves Deuce he obviously doesn’t trust him because he’s still not getting significant minutes at the backup. DJ Murray is a no brainer in my opinion the longer this drags on only gives another team the opportunity to come in and get him from under us. He’s available NOW. Bring him in and Bey to fill the rotation spot for Grimes who goes out in the deal. Bey can backup up both OG and Randle at both forward spots, provide additional length, scoring and shooting in the 2nd unit which is sorely needed. Murray is the move solidifying the starting lineup and allowing Donte to go the bench and replace IQ as its scoring option (along with Bey)as he was intended to be when he has signed. LGK

Murray is a more of a playmaker than Brunson. He will get the team involved more and make them better rather than just have his favorites.
