Even if Kelly UB has a bad game there is nothing to respect about the way Tobias Harris is playing basketball right now like we can have that whole conversation about the money is the money and it doesn’t matter they need to bench him whatever it is he by virtue of making $40 million

And by signing this contract his commitment was to be one of the most important people on this team he has saddled this team with that contract well I should say the team saddle themselves with the contract but they have had to work around it for a half de

Decade it has impacted their ability to build around joal embiid it impacted many decisions that they could have made or didn’t make in the year since and right now because he is making that money the guys that they have to support him and to support the rest of the

Roster without embiid are not good enough they’re we’re asking Kelly UB collectively like hey Kelly you got to go out there right and carry the offense for stretches of the game because this [ __ ] guy has no desire to or no ability to we were talking about Dante D

And talk about how it’s like pulling teeth to get to buas Harris to take three threes in a game he played 262 minutes and shot two threes two threes this is supposed to be one of the guys that spaces the floor for Joel embiid in a crunch time lineup in a starting

Lineup in games that matter right now he is the guy who’s supposed to be one of the two best players on your team and he’s absolutely Anonymous it’s not that he’s inefficient most night he’s relatively efficient tonight is an exception he goes one for six again the

Problem is the same as it always was he is unwilling to persevere through tough times he doesn’t get going early he Fades into the background and as Derek brought up the worst part was tonight he actively killed rallies that the Sixers put together right they come out of

Halftime they’re already down pretty big and they put on a little run to start the second half you know like they’re playing Pace they’re playing space they’re moving the ball hitting some threes and immediately after the next call time out Tobias Harris misses a layup that turns into a dant chenzo

Transition three and the next possession is the Tobias catches it with 10 seconds Wast six of it drives in with the next three and right before he’s about to give somebody a hot potato with one second on the shot clock he travels and Jaylen BR Brunson goes and gets an one

On the other side of the floor so look we can talk about all these other reasons that they’re failing right they have all these defensive weaknesses the whole team is not bought in defensively in the way that they should and certainly we saw they’re capable of doing so Sunday against the same exact

Team granted with OG anobi joining them tonight they turned in one of their best defensive performances of the Season only to follow it up with this disinterested garbage but I just I cannot sit here and watch Tobias Harris go through the [ __ ] Motions like this it’s unacceptable and I don’t understand

Like we have tried on the media side I’ll speak for myself but also other people that are in that room we have tried to say to Nick like what is going on here like what do you have to do to get Tobias going and diplomatically ask him versions of well why does he

Continue to play why is he one of your featured players because the truth right now is that every possession that they spend trying to get him going letting him run a pick and roll letting him go down to the mid post asking him to attack a smaller player potentially but

Now he’s so in his own head he’s not even recognizing when he has mismatches right we were talking tonight Devon there are times he’s trying to go at Josh Hart who’s one of the better Defenders they have on the floor and he’s getting absolutely stonewalled and then they’ve wasted six seven8 seconds

In a possession just because he had to touch the ball it’s a design look for him so I I’m just I can imagine the fans at this point 5 years into this are just completely done cuz I’m done I watch it every single night I watch some of these

Guys play the right way try to be about the right things and we’ve tried to give Tobias you know some Grace for a long time because his role can be tricky when one night he’s the fourth most important guy one night he’s got to be the second

Guy whatever but heavy is the head that gets paid 4 [ __ ] million dude like I’m tired of this [ __ ] his role with Joel embiid out of the lineup for a few weeks now was supposed to be one of the two best players on the basketball team

Any move that was made at the deadline before andb went out was to add to the team of Tyrese Maxi and Tobias Harris but we’ve seen far too often after five years of this that I’m sick and tired of this type of performance this type of

Effort this type of play where gets into his own head and he allows himself and lets the opponent off the hook for whatever it is that we all believe on the positive side of what he can do as a 18 to 20 point per game scorer and when

He has talked in the past about being in the SATs and score or you hear other things about where he feels like there are not enough touches or finding that role that role has been defined now for a few weeks that even after four years

That we are here right now Maxi as the All-Star as the lead guy The Supporting Cast starts should start after Tobias Harris and when we see stuff like this and other performances that we have seen out there on the floor from him I don’t care about the money anymore it’s about

The player of what is projected to be out there on the floor when he checks into that game as a starter for Nick nurse’s team and to not get that kind of performance continually doing this where it’s two weeks of really good two weeks or three weeks weeks of really bad and

To have this type of effort tonight I mean we were sitting there and yes I did giggle when we started things out because sometimes at this point all you can do is laugh until we get to this part of the show where we get serious because we’re just all sick and tired of

It and every excuse in the book can be made for this guy who is 69 and many times out there in the floor he’s playing against people who are smaller than him where he should be more aggressive getting to the free throw free throw line finishing close to the

Basket and with that three-point value we talk about that coming into the with the flow of the game that thing naturally happens but the way that he has done this as of late and we gave him the credit for the Dallas game with his 28 and the other games where he has

Performed well out there on the floor when someone like o anobi comes in and you can see it right away with his physicality coming right back and he bodies Tobias Harris and you can see it very very quickly he’s going to give the ball up because of whatever it is with

The fear against ogn and noi and not believing in himself that he can get something done I’m sick of it there are 18 games remaining on the season I would imagine that he’s going to play an all 18 just because they need him out there on the floor he is always available

Because he doesn’t really get injured unless it’s something major and of course the sickness that he had earlier in the season but this was unbelievable here tonight to only take six shots and Dereck said it before the show started someone had put in the chat or a tweet

Where this was game six all over again from the easn conference semis against Boston last season where he went one for three in the first quarter and you basically didn’t see anything else from him for the remainder of that basketball game this one may not have been that as

Important but this one was a real real stinker from Tobias Harris tonight and when they did cut the lead to 10 and New York called that timeout in the third quarter all of that stuff that Kyle laid out happened right there in succession where he had a hand in all of it and

When things like this start to go in a different way for the basketball team you you know how you look at football games sometimes and you say I’m just going to focus on this one player and this game looked like it was already out of out of hand Maxi did what he was

Supposed to do as we talked about he allowed his teammates to get some early looks early right uh as he passed them and found them it didn’t really work out and it didn’t work out so he did what he was supposed to do after that he started

To score they were Midway through the early in the second he had 12 of the team 16 points I’ll just say this he had 10 of the 14 that they had in the first quarter one less Point than they had on Sunday and and with it he tried to set

His teammates up as a point guard generally does he drew the defense he set his teammates up they didn’t score so so he did what he had to do but after that you could see the game was going in a certain direction even though the Sixers did score 27 in the second but

They were already down big I focus on Tobias Harris from there on out just looking at what he was doing Kyle even said it at one point KY hope you don’t mind me saying it was cardio he was running up in down the floor and honestly that’s insulting to some guys

That have we’ve said have gotten cardio during games I’m just looking at him every possession and he was a step behind he was just running around going in circles we all talk about that one play where he really did nothing in that Boston game on that one possession where

Everybody was doing something except for him he was running around like like a dog chases his tail right that was what I was witnessing here tonight just a lot of nothing very lethargic out there on the floor he had absolutely nothing in this one and I’m sick of watching this

And I can’t wait for the contract to end at the end of the season not only did he shoot one for six from the field but he also had zero offensive rebounds zero free throw attempts and three defensive rebounds in 26 minutes so at least he

Helped you in other areas and he still has zero charges taken in the history of playing for the Sixers which is just it’s one of the most incredible stats I’ve ever seen do you ever just like sit this is one game where I I I’m sitting

About things and RJ my man going back to the past no it’s not just a bad game this is not just a bad game by the way come ain’t hearing it Josh is looked at as a lesser player than Tobias Harris because doesn’t score as well he has to do all those little

Things to really impact the basketball game it was very clear very clear that he was the best player between those two we had a 20 point triple double and one rebound shy of 20 of rebounds there to go along with 10 assists in this one and

He was so much better than Tobias Harris and I I I know that I can sit there and we can have a debate about where you can make that argument that if you had to choose between the two after watching their careers that one that’s going to

Help you win a game and going to do everything and leaving it out there on the floor no the guy’s clearly much better player uh right now to help you win a basketball game just ridiculous I just don’t know how do you look at some

Of the other guys on the bench that are fighting for minutes whether it’s KJ Ricky I mean Batum for example example batum’s been coming off the bench not that he’s been playing well but you look at these guys you have to look at buddy too they’re not playing the same position right but

Somebody who’s been demoted because he’s played poorly and look that’s fine I don’t have a problem with anybody being demoted because they’re in a shooting slump because you want better defensive options whatever you think the reason is that’s how a team should work right it’s about what’s

Best for the team well how do you present that message to the rest to these guys knowing that no matter how shitty Tobias plays he just continues to get to play and play a huge role play a starter’s role play a closer role and it doesn’t matter how far down he goes he’s

Still out there that makes it really hard to sell a message of Team first and buy in and be about the right things to the rest of this group because that’s not true for everybody on the team including for GU like look we understand in cases like joal and beid and Tyrese

Maxi they get to live by different rules right the the level of production that they offer as stars they get a little leeway if they have long stretches where they struggle they have a game where they’re bad they’re still going to get the close Tobias Harris does not deserve

That type of leeway and continues to get that type of leeway I believe I saw that Nick nurse was asked about about the potential to bring Tobias off the bench after the game and has said he’s not there yet and so what is it what would it take what

Would it take like again I brought his name up the other night when you and I were talking to Klay Thompson accomplished a hell of a lot more Hall of fam for the Golden State Warriors than Tobias Harris has for the entirety of his career whether you’re saying the Sixers the Clippers

The Bucks the Pistons the magic Klay Thompson is eons separated from Tobias Harris and midseason Steve ker still had the balls to go up to him and say you’re sitting on the bench to start the game because that’s the right thing to do and they are in literally the same situation

Sunday and I keep telling people I I want you to understand how good Joel and be is at basketball and how transformative he is for the Sixers as an organization and look maybe you could invent some fantasy trade where they get a billion picks and the perfect young

Prospect that fits next to Maxi and you nail every draft and all that but if you look at the management decisions that they have made since the moment Joel embiid was drafted there are not many that stand out as like oh yeah organizationally this is a group that is

Definitely definitely gonna get it right if they were to tear it down and say let’s just move on and I want you guys to savor every single second every single game every single season that Joel embiid plays for this franchise there is a reason across multiple ownership groups across many coaches

Across hundreds of players that this team has not won a title since 1983 before I was born there’s a reason there is one finals appearance this team has made in my lifetime and it was a flash in the pan they never came close afterward with that same guy leading the

Way who was an incredible Talent there is a reason through all that stuff they have not been a well-run organization generally speaking in the macro and they have Joel embiid it is the one two three four five maybe the first 15 reasons that they are at all relevant in the NBA

And I hope that that has sunk in for the Skeptics for the doubters for the haters for the people who want to downplay play just how good this guy is look at where they are without him that 2021 season in the playoffs of course against the Atlanta Hawks that I

Three they only got to the line 16 times they got seven offensive rebounds on on 60 on 50 Miss shots like there was a lot going on that wasn’t no way more than I can’t do math doesn’t matter they didn’t do anything to create any opportunities outside of tyres Max’s drive and kick

And when you can’t execute in any single facet of the game you’re not going to score very many points and look this is a really good New York Knicks defense uh that being said outside of maybe Kelly UB nobody else really stood stood up and that’s just been a recurring theme
