SPIDA drops 31 and The Cleveland Cavaliers send a message after beating the Atlanta Hawks 122-116
Donovan Mitchell scored 31 points, Evan Mobley had 22 points and tied a career high with 19 rebounds, and the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Atlanta Hawks 122-116 on Wednesday night.
James Harden added 21 points for the Cavaliers, who have won four straight and seven of eight. Cleveland (51-29) can finish no lower than fourth place in the Eastern Conference and is 1/2 game behind New York for the third seed.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 25 points and Jonathan Kuminga had 24 off the bench as Atlanta was unable to clinch a playoff berth with the loss. The Hawks (45-35) have dropped their last two after winning four straight. They are one game ahead of Toronto for the fifth seed but only 1 1/2 in front of Orlando to avoid being in the play-in tournament.
It was Mitchell’s 200th regular-season game with at least 20 points in four years with the Cavaliers. He is the fifth player in franchise history to reach that milestone.

CAVs defense is still garbage
They need to cut back the amount of games they play too much wear and tear on these athletes in today's NBA they're injured on and off all season long I say a 65 game season somewhere in there I'm just throwing out a number instead of 82.. they really need to think about it and come up with a plan no doubt about it in my opinion
Hardens performance kind of scares me. He looked old and indecisive. I think he needs to defer more to Don and Ev in the playoffs.
Donovan came to play last night. Great game 🎉🎉🎉 But he had great games in the playoffs last year. He just didn't get any help from anyone else.
I really hope that this year playoffs will be different.

I’m convinced people that say things like “good teams don’t try to avoid other teams in the playoffs” just want to sound cool and tough lol. It doesn’t mean you’re “scared” of that other team. It means you recognize that, even if you still think you’re the better team, that team has a higher chance of getting hot and beating you than another team. People don’t seem to understand how much luck is involved with championships. Yea, the better team often wins and there’s a lot that they can control. Sometimes the other team just overperforms to a dramatic level and gets a few more lucky bounces to go there way and it swings an entire series. Take the path that is most likely to result in wins and quicker series so there is less risk of injury, fatigue, and variance

Keep it 100 harden looked WASHED last nite
The last part of the season will always feel like this, regardless of how many games there is. If there was only 48 games, then the last ~8 games or so would feel like the last ~20 games of this 82 game season. It's not necessarily the season length that's the issue. It's just the way it is. The games get more pointless during the end of any season because teams have already secured their positions.
the message seems to be, we don't play defense, especially against the 3, and another 2nd round playoff disaster is coming up
